Really nice people there. I truly enjoyed my stay!!! Met people from Ireland, Thailand, Taiwan and Australia. Many climbers also there and a nice Pub is just 5 minutes away. Go there and it will be nice.

My bag got stolen from the left luggage room and I picked up scabies (a parasite) from the bedding. Defintly the worst hostel i've stayed in!

Bathroom and toilet are clean and tidy. However, the water is a bit cold for shower.

We booked months in advance but somehow we managed to get crammed into a 7 bed dorm the size of a shoebox. When we complained to the lady at reception she got quite irritated and told us that there was nothing they could do. We had to walk down to the next floor to use a toilet and we had to walk down 3 floors to use a shower. Also there is no kitchen available but if you want to use the microwave they charge you SWF 2.50!close

The staff was friendly and the location is fabulous but the smell of stale cigarettes, mold and cigars were way too overwhelming if you don't smoke. The entrance to the hostel is not inviting and you have to literally rock climb to get to your bunk.

There was a SEVERE lack of power points - especially in the dorms, and the power points that were there were in awkward areas - such as doorways. The showers did not drain properly, the temperature fluctuated between hot and cold and the shower curtains were horribly mouldy. The wifi was good, as was the ample locker room space. A kitchen and larger living area would help this hostel a lot!close

Good location for hiking around the region, close to the main street also. Very loud though and and the bathroom facilities, especially the showers need attention.

there isn´t much of an option in zermatt, try to stay at the Hostelling International Youth hostel, its more but you get breakfast and dinner included which is expensive in town

We found out too late that a lot of the hotels have doorms - they're a bit more expensive but well worth the extra francs. The hostel is a great value, but I found it difficult to accept that there wasn't a single completely functional shower. Spending a little money on plumbing fixers will not break the bank, especially given the amount of paying customers that stay there.

Great location and fun place. The guy at the front desk was a good guy and very helpful. If you dont mind a little older hostels, then stay here.

No where to check bags if you arrive early. We had to leave some bags in the dining room. When we got back all the bags were open....luckily we didn't leave anything valuable and nothing was taken

It suited our needs. The facilities were decent, not a full kitchen, just a mini fridge, kettle, and a toaster. The showers weren't bad either, didn't mind showering in them unlike Zurich. The stairs are troublesome, very steep spiral staircase. If another place opened up I would go there, but seems like it's all Zermatt had. Room doors don't lock so you'll rely on the lockers (very old fashioned keys). Plus side is free wireless compared to other places in Switzerland that charge a ridiculous rate. If you have other destinations, at least a FULL day in Zermatt should be enough.close

In fact, we snowboarded with him and the cook and had drinks with them on the mountain. The bar has a good selection of drinks and shots and is as cheap as you will find in Zermatt. Also there's a nice TV with great snowboarding and skiing videos. The hostel is a 5 min walk from the gondola up to the main mountain and 10 min from the train to the other, which is perfect, because the closer mountain is about twice as big. The only complaint is that they told us we could leave our bags in the lounge after check out while we were snowboarding, and my girlfriend got 200 euro stolen out of hers.close

Location was excellent, however it would have been easier to meet people if there was a common area. Very cosy and warm room. Bathrooms could have been more spacious and shower was cold.

This hostel had a lot of character and staff were very helpfull, however doors to the hostel and the dorms were left unlocked at all times. The hostel was also very chilly at night time, at least our dorm was, everywhere else seemed ok.
