a good hostel just ONE MASSIVE problem......NO HEATING!!! they have radiators but are broken!!! we got given a small heater that blew up as we turned it on and it was the only one in the whole hostel!!! it was warmer outside then it was inside!!!it is definatly a chilled place the staff are...

Great hostel in a beautiful building! Clean place, great staff, and just outside the main area so you can walk to all the action in 10-15mins, and have quiet at night. Close to the train as well. Hope to stay here again - and visit Zakopane again!

No heat there the end of October! It was freezing in the hostel. Good option for people traveling alone, offers cheap single rooms, but no real common room or place where people were really hanging out.

shower completely blocked in room 12, you cant shower for more than 2 mins without having to turn it off because it will overflow. needs curtains. also boiler for building was in our room and everytime anyone used any water it made a loud annoying noise. cool cabin type building but very cold.

Very much enjoyed our stay at the Stara Polana, good breakfast included, internet access and friendly helpful staff. Lockerroom to put your skis in as well. We had a room right up in the eves of the building so felt more special than the average twin room in a hostel!!!Would go again.

Stayed one night to try out Stara Polana as we are going to Zakopane March/ April. The receptionst could not have been more friendly, (she is studying tourism--sorry I did'nt ask her name), or helpful. Good hostel! Only problem was that there is only one shower for the entire hostel, and the rooms are very cold, but otherwise it's all good.

I really liked this hostel, which is an attractive wooden building, about 15mins walk from the main street. Zakophane is a really attractive place and well worth a visit.

A little far from the action, but a great place to stay. We had a flat, 2 beds, bathroom, kitchen. Excellent place. A small grocery across the road.

On arrival, sadly we wern't shown what was available in the hostel, but managed to find 2 bathrooms that people generally didn't know about - great after a long walk in the Tatra mountains!Socialising was not made easy- only room for 4 people to get together in the lounge! I very much enjoyed staying in the Stara Polana. If I return to Zakopane I will certainly stay there again. It is well located near the bus station. The staff are very helpful. Asia was very friendly and went out of her way to help us. Thank you!

Hostel with nice character, but the bathroom definitely needs renovation. It was very oldish and it was no longer possible to decently clean it. We were happy to leave and get to a hostel with modern showering facilities.

very quiet hostel (probably due to off season) but if you're staying in one of the 8bedded rooms the doorbell is quite annoying at night... the common area could be better, and a few more lights wouldn't hurt, but all in all an OK hostel with nice staff.

very quaint, cute and homely hostel. Friendly staff. Kitchen is big and well equiped (but needs a can opener!) Lots of social sitting areas. Computer easy to use. My only negative is that all the floorboard creak and doors are loud when opening and closing. but this all adds to the country...

What a cute place! It could have been a little closer to the main street of Krupowki but it's really not that far. Overall, makes you feel like you are in a real Zakopane house.

Ok hostel. Nothing wrong with it really just might be a bit crowded at times. Good kitchen and rooms were ok, just expect to wait a while to use facilities.

Weather makes the difference here in Zakopane. The hostel is only useful as a base. Nothing to do here if it rains heavily all day.
