Washington DC Reviews ( 50 reviews )

Probably the world's most famous capital city, there are plenty of sights to be seen and is one of the only cities in the United States where you can actually feel a bit of history! The White House, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial…You can’t run out of things to see! Word of warning though; eating out can be expensive! |

Washington is a great city!! It has great culture, heritage and sightseeing i.e. the White House, the White House Museum, Capital Hill, the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. There is so much history in Washington and most of the museums are free!! It is very easy to get around and a surprisingly laid back city! The city also has a great night life, I stayed in DuPont Circle, where the streets were lined with cafes and bars. |

There is lot to do and see in Washington DC, so getting up early to make the most of your stay is recommended. The Smithsonian museums are world renowned for good reason. There are about 15 museums in all, so it's best to choose a few and take a day or two exploring those. I found the National Air & Space Museum and National Museum of Natural History to be the most interesting. Washington has many memorials and buildings of interest. I got tours of the US Capitol (seat of US government) and the White House. Of course, you don't get to ramble around, but it is nice to visit such well known landmarks. Overall, Washington DC is a great place to visit. The Smithsonian museums alone are worth the effort. Some prior knowledge of American history and politics brings extra value to some of the other places on offer. Getting around was straightforward. A shuttle bus took me to and from my hotel to the metro station. The metro is clean and efficient and brings you to (or close to) many places of interest. |

We went to DC for a two day trip from NY. It was actually enough time to get to see all the main sites. The majority of the sites are all within walking distance of each other (Capitol, Monument, the memorials and White House). The Smithsonian museum complex is massive though so we only got to see one of the museums there. We were lucky enough to be there for the cherry blossom trees being in full bloom (end Mar/beg Apr) so that definitely added to the pictures! DC is very much a student/politician's area especially if you're staying around the main sites. Downtown is apparently a bit rough but we didn't get there. We went to Georgetown for dinner and drinks. The restaurant selection was fair but there wasn't that many bars and the ones that were there were packed with students. Probably would have been good for anyone under 25. We walked around all the sites and didn't use public transport so I can't comment on that. However, it seemed pretty easy to use. |

Nice city with lots of culture. Shops and supermarkets are sometimes difficult to find or reach with public transport. |

I love Washington! It's a great city for museums and sightseeing. You won't spend a lot on it, as most of them are free!!! I absolutley enjoyed the (free) tours of Senate and Bureau of Print and Engraving - ever seen $32million on one stack - crazy!!! |

this city is quite hard to get your head round if you've been to new york or philadelphia, they number and letter thier streets but they dont always continue in a way you'd expect.plenty of bits to see but probably not worth a week's stay |

Full of history an culture. Between politics, monuments and the Smithsonian, there's more to see than could fit into a week. It was my first time and loved seeing the Nation's capital in person. The metro made it really easy to get around, though there could have been a few stops closer to certain areas. (For some of the monuments you have to walk about a mile from the nearest stop.) For a budget trip this place is awesome. Pretty much everything we went to see/do was free. |

I was tired and jaded when I got to DC, so I didn't make the most of it. If you like your museums, spend a week here at least, and just wander aimlessly forever.
If you like your politics, hang out in a Gallery and watch Senate or Congress go at it for hours.
And make sure you're full of energy, otherwise you'll feel embarrassed about not taking advantage of the fact that you're in Washington DC. |

DC is like any other big city - a little expensive. And as someone from California, I can only rate the weather as OK, even though it's not that bad. Transportation is great, especially with the Metro system, but when trying to call or hail a cab on the outskirts of the city, be patient for at least 2 -2.5 hours. |

With paint and simple repair this Hotel is a good opcion |

Love the Smithsonian. They are free. |

Washington, DC is easy to travel in if you know the metro system. However, don't bother to drive here, you are guaranteed to get lost. Lots of interesting sights (museums, etc.), and good shopping if you have money. Can be very dangerous if you get lost walking in the wrong area. |

Wasington DC disappointed me a little bit. The good thing about it is a huge amount of museums here and the fact that they are all free adds to it geatly. Not a very good thing is that it gets boring after you've visited all the museums. |

creepy power center of USA no fun unless yur oozing heaps cash not sure that would do kinda like salt lake city with no mountains |
this city was fun but many of the major attractions were over hyped our favourite location was the phillips collection near embassy row where the luncheon of the boating party is housed, there are van goghs and reniors that you can almost touch unforgetable. the city is quite cold but the transport is great and well heated |

Full of American history and culture. Heaps to see, especially buildings and museums of interest. |

For the ultimate place to go for overpriced food and shopping, as well as cold indifferent people, see DC. There was great museums and history to be seen. I hate materialism so it was not my place I would go if I did not have to. Anyway, our president still sucks. Glad I live in Ammerica so I can say that....... |

Beautiful city. Loved it!!! |

I had been here before but this time I really enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights.
The reflections of the buildings on the water and the information I learned gave me new wrinkles in my brain.
This country was built based on integrity that is evident in our founding leaders. I hope people see, and really learn from the wisdom that's displayed throughout the city. And go home and enjoy and feel grateful for the gifts this country has worked hard to give us....Let's not take it for granted and share it with the world...With LOVE and PEACE!! |

It is very nice city and the people are friendly |

The city definitely is for the tourist, great layout and easy access even by Metro public transport. HI is in a great location to accommodate all of this. |

This city kind of reminds me of London. Lots of places to see, that even as an non American you will be able to recognise. Metro system is really easy to use too. Definitely go up the Washington memorial for great panoramas! |
THE CITY IS VERY RICH IN HISTORY AND EASY TO GET AROUND. THERE IS PLENTY TO DO SO BE SURE TO MAKE AN ITINERARY SO YOU DON'T MISS ANYTHING. |
It's one of those admired places in the United States and the city is very historic and most attractions there are free. |
I've only been here for 3 day's and been arranging all kinds of stuff for my internship, s I can't really say anything about DC yet |
The Metro is great! Also rode the buses, which are well run -- lots of posted schedules and the buses run on time! Each bus stop has a map of the route. Drivers are very helpful. I was in class most of the time, did not do a lot of sightseeing, but had a grand time. The Hostel I was in had a lot of drinking going on, but all seemed to be under control and quite pleasant. |

It looks bad on the outside but the inside is pretty decent. Dont judge the book by the cover. Lincoln memorial is only a 10 min walk from F Street and 23rd. We got hit in a snowstorm while we were there but that was the only downfall to the whole thing. |
I haven't been looking to party so far, so it's hard to assess, but I know there is tons of things to do here. Weather is extremely humid. |
Geting up early is the key here and doing a tour of some kind so much to see but alot of ground to cover |
Hostels are not great here. Visit Georgetown for a nicer side of DC. |
The Metro/ bus system is not as user friendly as the NYC. I found myself walked at least 10 miles a day and it felt like 30 miles!!! Still, there was so much to do and so much to see. DC makes you want to love your country more.... |
3 day\'s is enough to see the city |
Unexpected amenities like hair dryer and iron... Decorated and felt like my grandparent\'s house :) Really clean and secure. |

If you have ever wanted to see the national sites, spend a whole day looking at priceless works of art, eat wonderful food that dances on your taste buds or generally wanted to explore a city rich in culture and influence- Washington D.C. is the place for you. Depending on personal tastes you can find everything you want or need to engage the mind and senses. |
Great for the sights, plus Georgetown is nice. However, the Metro is quite a walk from a lot of the sights and many places close early. Weather is unpredictable too. |
The city is amazing, we were on the run all times but we had a chance to visit 3 museums, attend to a bb game and also visiting the musts at DC (white house, memorials, capitol, etc.)
The metro station is great really easy transportation. |
Great sightseeing in DC. Also it is very affordable. All the museums are free, and the metro is just a few dollars a day. |
all smithsonian museums are free. most attractions are free. i enjoyed spy museum and grey line\'s washington after dark tour.
the monuments are great especially at night.
Unfortunately, I only had one day to do the basic sightseeing, so I had not the possibility to explore the whole atmosphere of the city. So I chose the middle for culture, partying, shopping and chilling out. But I am sure that it is a nice city. |
Most of the museums are free which is a bonus. Can be a little bit spooky on the streets at night |
Good rooms... Breakfast nice and simple for 2 dollars... Don\'t be in a hurry when you get to reception though, depending on who is there... Rooms and bathrroms very clean... Lockers, very convenient. |
