I highly recommend the inn at Dupont Circle South. It rank high on my list of hotels to stay at in Washington DC. I plan to stay at an alternate location owned by them called "the inn at brookland" when Pope Benedict XVI to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

This is definitely one of the better hostels which I have stayed at in my time, seems well organised and clean. They have quiet time so that you can get some sleep, but there's quite a few bars within 5 minutes walk if you'd rather party on all night instead!
