Virginia Beach itself is a pretty nice beach, but can get a little crowded. It's best to find a few of the 'local' beaches that are off the beaten track- but beautifully quiet. There's good shopping, but like a lot of places in the States you will need a car to get round. In the summer the beach is full of students working through the summer, renting accommodation and partying.close

37My husband and I with our two pre-teens recently vacationed in Virginia Beach over Memorial weekend. We all had a blast! We had gorgeous weather the whole time we were there--i've never seen a sky without any clouds! (Dont forget your sunscreen) The girls loved laying out at the beach all day...more My husband and I with our two pre-teens recently vacationed in Virginia Beach over Memorial weekend. We all had a blast! We had gorgeous weather the whole time we were there--i've never seen a sky without any clouds! (Dont forget your sunscreen) The girls loved laying out at the beach all day and my husband and I enjoyed people-watching on the boardwalk. There are also lots of things to do. We visited the aquarium, went go-karting and played putt-putt. We also decided to take a timeshare tour while we were there and received 2 Bush Garden tickets. The timeshare resort was beautiful, and my husband and I decided to purchase one at the Ocean Beach Club. All-in-all, it was one of the best vacations my family has ever had.close

Lynnhaven Mall is a typical American shopping centre, and it's pretty great for those of us who love shopping! It has over 180 stores, 17 restaurants and eateries, plus a state-of-the-art AMC Theatres with 18 screens. You won't be bored here, just remember to bring your credit card!!
