the staff was really nice and the hostel ist really close to a nice shopping area :) I would stay here again. Especially since the breakfest was simple, but yummy.

We booked two rooms, one of which was a good size but the other was incredibly small, especially as it was for a twin room and not a double. The shower head in the bathroom was broken and was held up by a plastic bag tied around it. Having said all that, the service was good and the breakfast...

3 stops from city centre. good breakfast. rooms are small but are comfortable and clean. inside, the building itself is quite nice. i would definitely go back.

Nice place and really cost effective. Good location with free parking in the neighborhood (or pay parking just outside). Not so close to downtown (half an hour walking), but subway 2 minutes far. Good location, just 3 U-Bahn stops from Stephansplatz and there's a tram stop right outside the door. Not the best place I've ever stayed, but the rooms are fine, and breakfast is included!

Take more care on the details: liquid soup in the shower was empty and not refilled in two days. Water leaking from the WC even after leting the staff be aware of this. Rooms were claustrophobic and the bed was not that precisely were you can rest after being walking the whole day.

A bit of noise from the passing traffic but on the whole this is a well run hotel close to Sudbahnhof and public transport to the city literally is at your doorstep.

I was very happy there. The hotel was very clean, and the staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a big plus. It is not in the touristic center of Vienna, but you can reach it easily by subway. I will totally recommend it.

If you're expecting a five star hotel you will be utterly disappointed. But if you are expecting some hostel dive, you will be pleasantly surprised. The staff was more than helpful, especially the guy that works in the evening. The breakfast was tasty and filling and FREE. The location is decent because it is very very close to two stations that take you directly into town in less than 5 minutes. The area where the hotel is is okay. I had a very pleasant stay overall. If I go to Vienna again while I'm still a student (and still broke) I will probably stay here again. It isn't a place for someone with a steady income, but it is great for people on a tight budget.close

We ended up staying at somewhere recommended by Hotel Kolbeck staff which was even further out of town, opposite the tram station where they did night-time repairs, and just down from a store selling paraphernalia for sado-masochistic sex. The hostel is obviously in the middle of being renovated, but it's a good quality place to stay at the price. There is an excellent breakfast spread.

I Enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Kolbeck - despite a tiny private room, it was very clean and the staff were great. Very close to subway and bus stops and quite close to the city centre. And great coffee each morning!

Extremely cheap for single rooms and good public transport connections. Not suitable for party people or to people who mainly want to socialize. It is a hotel rather than a hostel.
