It was a nice enough place. The beds were confortable, the staff spoke English, and the breakfast, though not great, was good. The location: it is a ten minute walk to the old city, and the tram is right outside the door.

The bed is terrible and old. I can't sleep well on the bed because the bed is not only tough but also stab my body. The bed is differenet with the pictures on the website.

The hotel was in a great location and allowed me to walk everywhere I wanted to go. The breakfast was terrible. On my last night there someone tried to enter my room around 2am. I'm not sure if they were mistaken about their room number or if they had malicious intent for me.

The room was quite spacious and the view was fine. Bathroom was good. Beds were comfortable however a 'double bed' was actually 2 singles pushed together. Our experience was marred by unfriendly, uninterested and often rude staff. The smoke filled rooms and corridors were very off putting.... more The room was quite spacious and the view was fine. The price is too much for the room. I left the room for the day and came back and the room was left unlocked with all of our things in the room. The overall room could be improved considerably. As for the room being unlocked. Completely unacceptable.

When I first got to the hostel, the girl who checked us in knew NOTHING about the city. We asked for suggestions of what to do in vienna and she basically told us that theres nothing to do in the city. now this is actually surprising for me because it turned out to be my favorite city in europe. someone who works in a hotel shouldn't present such a negative image of the city in which she lives in! i was hoping that in the morning someone else would be working at the front desk, and sure enough i was in luck. (or so i thought) the man was beyond rude and was very unhelpful. I had a lot of questions on the city because I wanted to see as much as I could, but to every question that I asked he responded with a mocking question of his on. When i asked what there is to do in vienna he said, well it's a big city you shouldve researched it more. Yes, I guess it would've been better if I planned my trip out a little more, but he was absolutely rude, unfriendly, and totally put me in a bad mood! the hostel was clean and was actually in a good location, but the staff totally turned me off. If you want an ok place to stay (definitely NOT worth the money though except for it's location and the fact that it's clean.. but with bare white walls) it's ok to stay here, but make sure you research it yourself because NO ONE there will help you at all.close

Room was spacious and warm. It was not clean when we arrived, and no cleaner when we left. Hot water ran out after 2 showers, not good for a party of 4. Hotel smelt very smoky, which was unpleasant. Breakfast was very basic, and rolls not fresh. Good walking distance to centre.

Unfortunately a very bad move for anyone with asthma as there is no non-smoking facilities at all. There is a constant smell of smoke about. Extremly good location just outside the centre of Wien.

The Hotel Goldener Baer in Vienna was a great place to stay. The rooms were large and airy and the location, which was very close to the museum quarter, was perfect. Highly recommended.
