I had a wonderful experience at Locanda Herion. It is in a beautiful, quaint, non-touristy location, but still close enough to points of interest (ALL Venice is a point of interest!) and only minutes from the San Marcuola vaporetto stop. It is in a beautiful, quaint, non-touristy location, but still close enough to points of interest (ALL Venice is a point of interest!) and only minutes from the San Marcuola vaporetto stop. It is an easy 10 min. walk to the train station. The hotel exterior is easy to miss and not the picture of the front door that is on the website. The entry has been moved since it's renovation. The hotel interior is VERY clean and new. The interior courtyards are filled with flowers and plants and are very charming . My only dissapointment is that my room was VERY small, and my window faced an exterior brick wall. However, I was travelling alone, so didn't need much room, and got used to it quickly enough. I spent some time sitting at the tables in the courtyards because they were so pretty. The other issue I have is that the websites and literature advertise breakfast in a breakfast room... This is not the case anymore and should be removed from the advertising. There is no food available at the hotel. Guests are given a voucher for coffee and a croissant (typical Italian breakfast) at a coffee bar across the street, and it is consumed standing at the bar. I had no problem with this because I understand Italian breakfast culture. I found the staff friendly and helpful. I was shocked to read one unhappy reviewer mention a "skinhead" at the front desk. This is NOT TRUE. I recall the young man at the front desk as being very courteous and friendly, well dressed, and professional. His hair was shaved, but he was not a "skinhead" . Many men shave their heads for various reasons, and it was unfair of this reviewer to give that impression in a review. Venice IS an expensive city to visit, and although I wish this hotel had cost less for the tiny room I had, I thought that the value I received was acceptable. I would stay here again.close

We got room 10 for the weekend which really shouldnt be a hotel room. Small, no air, very unromantic and uncomfortable given the price. I think we were unfortunate to get the dud though as all other rooms looked spacious. Checkout is also a little too early - 30 minutes after Breckfast

We really liked Locanda Herion. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room and its bathroom were nice. It was an excellent location. The breakfast was good (except for the annoying music), and we would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Very clean and affordable. The staff was wonderful, offering to help in any way. We enjoyed breakfast on the quaint terrace every morning. I was pleasantly suprised.
