eat a phili cheese steak, they're delicious. the city has lots of cool historical sites and if you dont know much about American history it'l give you a fun insight.
This hostel is in an 18th century house(not a "mansion" by any stretch of the 21st century imagination) way out in the middle of the largest city park in the USA. You are surrounded by miles of parklands. They have free bicycles you can ride into downtown Philly with(20 minutes - it's all down hill through lovely parkland with a great view of the Philadelphia skyline and you can catch the bus back for $1.30 -buy a bus token at the hostel - while resting your bike on the bus bike rack). It's only $18 per bed and the staff is informative and friendly. There is a kitchen laundry, and cable TV room. There is only one other hostel in Philly which is situauted smack in the historic district. If you're up for something off-off the beaten path and you like bike riding this is defintely worth cheking out... I mean checking into. Getting there is a bit tricky so zoom in on your google map ahead of time.
