Never met a receptionist of any sort. Not actually a hostel, and rather removed from the city center, although to be fair he does warn you of that.

On the other hand, the directions for getting there aren't exactly clear. My stay itself was fine, I just needed somewhere to put my crap and sleep for a night and it filled that role.close

We had reserved via internet, we were there, and the place looked absolutely deserted and there was no one at the reception. As the surroundings didn't really look very inviting, we decided to look for another place and found one recommended in lonely planet for about the same price - right in...

This is a great hotel. It is outside the city center, but buses run often to take you each way. And in a pinch it is only about an hour walk. A really great place.

Take the number ten bus to the terminus (Glaciere) and take a right. It's a lot easier to find it that way than with the post office and whatnot instructions.

If you´re travelling with friends don´t be surprised if you arrive and find a double bed where you may have been expecting two singled - but hey, it´s a chance to get to know your friends that little bit better. The hotel man (Adam) was very helpfull and could speak both english and french pointing out the places to see aswell as advice on travelling onward. It´s certainly not the Ritz but for the traveller on a budget it´s bloody good value.close
