A great business class hotel in Ueno Japan, where the airport train terminates. Its 10 mins walk from Ueno park and 5 from the subway, making it easy to get into the heart (and more expensive) parts of the city. Hugely recommended!

The room smelled badly of smoke and there were signs all over the room of the damage that smoking does to a room over many years. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was disappointed because during New Years of this year I stayed in Tokyo(Shinjuku) at an amazing business hotel that was only 5,000 yen a night. So I was surprised at the appearance of your hotel. I am sorry to complain, but I thought you might like to know.close

Add to this a predominantly English 'business' clientele and people running and shouting in the corridors until the early hours and you definitely have somewhere to avoid. I also thought there was a potential fire hazard: the metal lampshade on the bed-head being dangerously near the curtains. OK, it's fairly convenient for Ueno station (not the easiest to navigate) and therefore the Skliner to Narita Airport, but ideally I would have extended my stay in Hongo and paid a £5 taxi fare. I would like these comments to remain anonymous. Thank you.close

Also, Ueno station is a great resource for those new to japan, because there is a free internet cafe there, and many good food options. the hotel itself has rooms with private bathrooms, a full sized bed, a large closet, and a small writing desk. they are very clean and more than adequente for the traveler. the hotel has it's own restraunt that i never got the chance to try, but it always looked full, so that's a good sign. the staff is extremely helpfull and speak enough english to do business, and point something out on a map. they also are prepared with many maps of the different areas of tokyo and specific attractions, such as museums, nighlife, shopping, ect. one really great thing about this hotel is that it has a washing machine and a dryer that is coin operated. after a month in china, it was the first time i paid less than 20$ american for a load of laundry. (i think the coins were ~$4) anytime a hotel wants to do your laundry, it's REALLY expensive, usually $2-3 for 1 shirt!! so that was great, other than that, it was fairly convenient; there is a 24hr. market around the corner, vending machines on every floor, and the subway station is right across the street. less than a 5 min. walk... i would stay there again.close
