The worst thing is the location, but the 'hobos' (men living on the streets) are generally polite and friendly gentlemen so don't be afraid! Plus the hostel is excellent and very clean and secure.

It's very clean, the staff is cool and you can easily meet a lot of people (and not only foreigners). It`s a very nice hostel! However, I did`t like just one thing. The hostel is closed from 11am-4pm (for Jakuza meeting I guess :-) ). So you can`t stay in!

This hostel is BORRRRRING. It is in one of the most impoverished areas in Tokyo: there are bums lying all over the street and scummy little shops all around.

A party hostel, walls are thin, the women's dorm is very close to the lounge area, cramped space, quite noisy. Nice location, but nothing else besides that.

The location, around one of Tokyo's main tourist attraction is nice, but the hostel itself is not. Very noisy, rooms are small and not very clean. Better value can be found elsewhere.

Good internet facilities (they read SD memory cards) and vending machine right outside. Quite a few tramps in the area but doesn`t effect the nice setup! Also free Lonely Planet guides and books in the communal area + cable tv.close

A lovely clean hostel but it would have been nice to have more of a kitchen as add water noodles get a bit boring after a few days. Appreciated the free internet muchly!

This hostel is a new building and very clean. The room is wide and the window is also wide. I could stay there so comfortably.

The biggest drawback was that it was difficult to meet people - the only common area is a few couchs around a TV in the reception area. There is no kitchen (although there is a microwave) and the lock-out between 11 and 4 meant that most people only came back to the hostel to sleep - it certainly isn't a homely place that encourages you to just hang out. Location-wise, it is better than I expected - short metro-ride away from Ueno, which is a great place to explore and has connections to many other parts of the city (including the airport). The hostel is also walking distance (about 25 minutes) from Asakusa, another popular and interesting area. Overall, it's a great place to crash out at the end of a day sightseeing, but if I was to stay in Tokyo again, I'd probably try to find somewhere a little more social.close

However, they are also mostly harmless and friendly. It's a nicely quiet neighbourhood compared to the busy streets in the major centers of Tokyo. You have to leave the hostel between 11-16 which is occasionally inconvenient. It's quite difficult to find this hostel.. follow the written instructions, the map is not that useful. And there is no obvious Tokyo Backpackers sign outside, only a A4 in the doorclose
