It's tiny, literally the private room we stayed in was the bed and about 30 cm's of floor on one side. The room was 'private' but as it was only separated from the other rooms by a piece of plywood that only went up just above your head, it wasn't so private. The doors made loads of noise, it was like staying in a dorm with a plywood curtain. The checkin took ages, you have to pay a deposit of 1000 yen each which felt dodgy. There are rules printed all over the place, and posters justifying the tiny space. Rules rules rules! No common areas that were big enough for more than two people, you had to pay for gas in the kitchen and the internet isn't free if you have a laptop. Late or early checkin fees were really unreasonable and 100 yen per 20 minutes for internet is ludicrous! Bed was hard (usual Japanese style but still hard), pillows were filled with balls of something strange, and security was minimal. You could lock the door but anyone could steal stuff over the plywood walls!close

The location is a bit far from city but with the price of the hotel, I think you got a good deal and it is very near to the train station. the place is clean and very comfortable sheet also

At £7 a night you cant get better. You get what you pay for and its comes good. I defintely recommend it if you are a penny pincher. Takes about 1hr door to door to Tokyo station so this gives you a good idea about location.

JGH charges for every little thing: computer time, kitchen time, lockers, early and late check-in, etc. In the end, you could stay in a far better hostel for the same price. Plus, the beds have bed bugs, it's located in the red light district, and the rooms are unimaginably cramped. Better to stay at McDonalds.close

The people at the hostel are very nice but the area it is in seems shady with "snack bars" and other places. The staff helped me find a place to ship my luggage to the airport.

You get what you pay for. It's not very spacious, at all, think extra extra cozy, very very cramped but staff are nice and the rates are pretty cheap. Good for a short overnight stay but I'm not sure if I could stand it for more than a night.

Cheap, that is about it. It IS not in Tokyo, nor 20 minutes from Shibuya, It is in Saitaima, a prefecture right next to Tokyo. Alright if all you plan on doing is sightseeing during the day, but if you want to go out at night, I recommend a different hostel.
