Reviews of Macquarie Boutique Hotel

Macquarie Boutique Hotel has a rating of 77% from a total of 20 reviews and ratings, below are some reviews of Macquarie Boutique Hotel

Although I would recommend this hotel to most travellers, the service provided at breakfast was abysmal. The waitresses were rude, slow and after three days of this terrible start to the day I gave up hoping for an improvement and paid for breakfast at an alternative venue.

On the plus side the Macquarie is cheap for Sydney, especially given its good location, and the continental breakfast is also good. On the minus side the building is sad and tired looking and a bit noisy when the ground floor bar has live entertainment. My single en-suite room was very small and internal - no windows, which made it gloomy and depressing - with a small shower-room off that had a sealed window to the lift shaft!. I could not recommend this hotel. If it hadn't been for the fact that I had pre-paid then I would have stayed somewhere else less depressing even if it cost more.close

Nice hotel. Good bar, good food. Great location. Close to centre, nice walk in. Good breakfasts next door (included!). Would recommend.

Very, very small room, the window was next to the wall of the neighbour building, few daylight, loud air condition in front of the window. Killed a nice cockroach in the bathroom. This is under every standard. Warn your clients.

Your Hotel would have been much more enjoyable if we did not nave to climb 62 stairs every time we went to our room.

The staff were very helpful and friendly and i would recommend the hotel to others staying in Sydney but maybe wait a while till the renovations are finished.close

This collection makes for an interesting floor plan. The ground (1st) floor is a friendly corner pub and literally outside and next door is the breakfast room and behind that is the slot machines game room. On the 2nd floor is the billiard room and Thai restaurant (the food is quite good). On the 3rd floor is the reception desk and the rooms are on the 3rd and 4th floor. An elevator, which is badly needed for hauling your luggage upstairs, was being installed while we were there in early November 2004. Upon arrival, we had a hard time locating the reception desk and once we found it, we noticed that it was not staffed at times during our stay. When they are there, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tiny but comfortable, clean and safe. The en-suite bathroom/shower is claustrophobic but clean and well serviced, but beware the water temperature fluctuates sometimes radically. The wood floor creaks and the walls are thin so if that bothers you bring some ear plugs. The air conditioner, tv, small refrigerator and hot water kettle are nice amenities in the room. There are 2 Internet access stations available on the 3rd floor for a fee. Wi-fi and ethernet are also available in the rooms. The location is great for the price: in a safe neighborhood and relatively quiet street, just a block from Hyde Park, close to Central station, not far from Darling Harbor and good inexpensive food in Chinatown. The Sydney Opera House is a good manageable walk away and there are many places to explore in between.close

Great location and helpful staff. However, photos on website misleading, making the rooms appear bigger and nicer than they really are. Also, the air conditioner was weak and television did not work.
