Really good location. Lots of restaurants and theatres around in Newtown. Downside is it's a 10 min walk to the train station although if you're really lazy you can take the bus which stops right outside the hotel front door either to the train station or to down town. Was in Sydney for work and thoroughly enjoyed the ambience of the room including the courtyard area out the back... Great !!!

Average does not mean bad.....I hardly saw a staff member for the time i was there.....had more the feel of an apartment which is ok for me. This is not a hostel so its not fun in that way and its not meant to be......not a place to meet people. The important thing for me is location and it was...

This motel style accommodation is clean, you get fresh towels evey day and the staff are friendly and helpful - even when you wake them at 4am to check in! You also get a key to the main door and one to your room that means you can come and go as you please and theres a really cheap laundrette... more This motel style accommodation is clean, you get fresh towels evey day and the staff are friendly and helpful - even when you wake them at 4am to check in! You also get a key to the main door and one to your room that means you can come and go as you please and theres a really cheap laundrette across the road. Nice area and only a short bus ride to the city (or a reasonable taxi for the lazy amongst us!!) Only problem I had was the lack of plug sockets. To make tea I had to un plug the fridge and I had to charge my phone above the toilet!close

they overcharged me by $10, i didnt realise at the time because i was in a hurry, but on arrival i paid $72.10 not $62.10, like my confirmation email said.

Unfortunately I am unable to comment on this hostel as we never got to stay there. We arrived at reception & were informed that our room was double booked which is not what you want to hear especially when travelling with a child. We were offered a single room with an additional mattress on... more Unfortunately I am unable to comment on this hostel as we never got to stay there. We arrived at reception & were informed that our room was double booked which is not what you want to hear especially when travelling with a child. We were offered a single room with an additional mattress on the floor without a bathroom for free or $50 for the cost of taxis to an alternative chain motel further away, which was in a rather seedy looking area unfortuntely sandwiched between a KFC & a McDonalds. Although the manager of Sunrise Lodge was very apologetic, we were still very dissapointed as we had taken considerable time in choosing our accommodation opting to pay a little more for location & premises. I was under the impression that by being charged a deposit this would secure the room, but this is obviously not the case & I hope this does not happen to anyone else who books their accomodation this wayclose
