This is a great place if you want to meet other backpackers. The location is perfect. Had a great time meeting people surfing and chilling on the beach.

I've really loved staying in this hostel! The staff here are very helpful and friendly. It is situated just by a beautiful beach about 30mins on bus line out from the city. It is perfect for those looking to get away from the craziness of city life. It has great facilities...big kitchen,...

This hostel would be perfect in the summer, but for the winter it is really far from Sydney and everything (including the hostel office) closes really early.

Hostel is quite far from City (1hr by bus) but if you want just to get away with great beachside and few cafe's restaurants in area it is the very relaxed chilled out area.

Not a big fan of YHA's but this one is actually pretty nice. Really chilled out area (Collaroy) with very little tourism and a wicked beach with surf etc. Kitchen closes at 10pm evey night wich sucks. Nice tv room though. Better stay for a week or so to get in to it... $4.8 (one way) away from...

The let downs were the staff, quite unhelpful and not very friendly, the lack of air conditioning, the location - 30 min bus ride from the city not great for us, and the size of the rooms, very small. On the plus side, the hostel is very clean and the showers were brilliant - very powerful! The nearby beach is very nice, clean sea, good sand etc. Its no Bondi but its good enough! Buses to the City run every 15 mins or so, and there are regular buses to Manly as well. If you stay here on NY Eve, and are in the city at midnight, be prepared to wait until 4 or 5 in the morning to get home to the hostel. Local amenities are not in great supply but the essential local newsagent stocks most emergency requirements and there are a couple of surfwear shops of course (seems a bit excessive to me). There is 1 bar which isnt that good and the local cafes arent that great either, dont be tempted to have a breakfast at the chinese place - not nice at all. If your looking for a quiet getaway this place would be ideal, if cleanliness is important to you then you will love the power showers! If you are looking to spend a lot of time in the city though, and dont fancy a long bus journey every day (packed like sardines if you choose the busy times of the day!) then I would try and find somewhere a bit closer if you can.close

Great location - if you want to be a 45 minute bus ride from the city in a town where there is nothing to do and everything closes early. The rooms are absolutely tiny with no lockers and there were two showers between the entire floor. On New Year's Eve (my first night) I came back to find somebody sleeping in my bed, who remained there until 2pm the next day, meaning I had no sleep whatsoever. When the hostel staff were informed they just made a joke out of it. The 'game' room is dilapidated and people constantly sleep in the tv room, meaning any watching of tv or dvds is highly unlikely. The place also has a putrid smell. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Steer clearclose

Very close to the beach though, and lots of hiking tracks available. Bathrooms and kitchen cleaned regularly, but rubbish never empited from room for over 4 days. 20$ deposit for cutlery. Staff not very knowledgable nor organised, not over friendly, and during my stay there were a lot of double bookings made. Twice we slep 5 in a 4 bed dorm. Not very much of a communal, "mixing" atymosphere you encounter in many hostels. Saying all that, it did the job though.close
