The hostel has a lot of long-termers staying there and it makes the dynamic a bit harder to find other people to go sight-see with if you are traveling solo. At the same time, everyone was VERY friendly and they go out and have a good time on the weekends and everyone in the hostel is...

too many working backpackers who know each other (as they stay there for several months), so almost no way to get to know new people when you are "just" a traveller

Good value hostel in an excellent location. Pretty clean, nice staff and guests, and great kitchen and common room facilities. Would stay here again if back in Sydney.

Felt that facilities, particularly the kitchen could be better equipped for the rates charged. Bathrooms and kitchen needs cleaning more regularly. Staff were great though, and room comfortable enough. Location very convenient.

i had a good stay here. very small hostel with a cozy feeling. very nice and helpful staff. free internet. clean kitchen. good security. only complaint (suggestion) would be the smell in the dorm room, quite bad. time to rip out those carpets. but overall i recommend.

This is a pretty good hostel with a great staff, but it's also the type of hostel with tons of silly rules posted everywhere. My room kinda smelled funny though.

I love this hostel, I really felt at home during my stay and it is definitly one of the friendliest hostels I have stayed in. The staff are really helpful and were great at giving ideas on things to do in Sydney. Really nice place to stay, stayed at a different hostel at Kings Cross for a few days first and this is worlds apart. would definately come back here, staff are friendly and helpful and the whole hostel just has a great atmosphere!

The Blue Parrot is a clean and modern hostel, equipped with all the amenities a backpacker might be looking for. The best thing about this hostel is the location - you can walk to the Opera House. The hostel encourages those who want to party to go out and not disturb other guests.
