Stirling was a really amazing city. There is a lot to see and do and most of it is very unique. The castle is a can't miss as well as the William Wallace Monument. I also really enjoyed the Old Town Jail. Stirling was easy and fun to walk around and the people were very pleasant. I would definitely recommend a trip to Stirling.
Loved the Willy Wallace hostel. The bright colors, friendly staff and comfy lounge and kitchen made up for the slightly grungy rooms and small showers. Hostel was also very close to the train station so there was no need to trek about town with a pack. The town of Stirling was also very nice with lots of choices for eating out, an impressive castle and other nice sights.
Recommended as a daytrip destination from Glasgow or Edinburgh- not much going on at night (shops were all closed by 7pm...besides the Burger King), but the Castle, Wallace Monument and the Bannockburn Heritage Centre were great.
