Exploring the old town... observing the holy grail in the Cathedral of Valencia enjoying the views from the tower of Micalet...crossing flower bridges...drifting through the park of Turia in the old riverbed...dazzling magnificent buildings of Calatrava...dancing with dolphins in the Oceanografic...sunbathing...eating a paella on the beach...tasting horchata with fartons in Alboraya...observing birds in the natural park of Albufera...going on a shopping spree in trendy El Carmen...sipping agua de Valencia on Plaza de la Reina...partying in C/ Caballeros...watching Formula One...sailing away with Americas Cup...throwing tomatoes in la Tomatina...enjoying the music of a Mascleta...comparing colourful ninots during the Fallas festival. What ever your motive is for coming to Valencia, Hostal El Cid is the place to stay. The property is located right in the heart of Valencia's trendy and hip El Carmen district, just a few minutes walk away from the Cathedral and Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Within close reach you find all the big tourist attractions like El Mercado Central, La Lonja, La Plaza Redonda, Los Torres de Quart y Serrano, IVAM, MOVIM, etc. The property is just a stone throw away from the train station and close by you can jump on a bus or a metro that will take you to La Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias or to the beach. The property is located in a quiet pedestrian street in an old rustic Spanish house with beautiful ornaments and charming details. In April 2008 it was taken on by a new manager and now it's undergoing a careful restoration that will turn it into a unique and comfortable base for your stay in Valencia. The property has a total of thirteen individually designed rooms, mainly doubles and triples, four of them with bathroom. The rest share lavatory and shower just a second away on the hallway. All rooms are spacious and plenty of air and light enter through the big windows. On hotter days you can also cool down with the air conditioning or fan installed in all our rooms. Linen and towels are included in the price and our cleaning lady will make sure that your room is always clean and tidy. Some rooms also have television. We hope soon to be serving breakfast for an additional fee. Please contact the property for further details. Our friendly international staff will make sure that you have a comfortable stay. If you have any inquiries, need directions or recommendations on restaurants, bars, clubs etc. don't hesitate in contacting us. Some of us speak English, Spanish, French, German and Danish. A great location and very nice staff but the dodgy plumbing meant that there was a lingering bad smell in the bathroom. A little shabby but generally adequate.

The hostel was great for couples or small groups who want to avoid dorms. The location was surprisingly peaceful and in a very central position, though the walls are a bit thin! Basic but very clean facilities. Thank you to the friendly and helpful reception staff

Definitely not a place to meet other travellers, but a nice house in the centre of Valencia, with little balconies in a typical narrow street of the city... Enjoyed it :o)

our room with facilities (airco!) was nice and quiet. the only critical point are the steps - we need 71 starcase steps to come to our room on the second! so you must have a very good condition. the hostel lies very central for all the things to see and to shop and eat!

If you look for a good place to stay in the heart of the historical centre, this hostel is great! If you look for meeting (international) people, this is not your hostel, becouse there's no interaction between de staff or the visitors.

Really good location in the centre of old town. Not so close to the beach but its easy enough by bus. Try to avoid staying on the top floor as there are like 9000 stairs.

we had reserved a room with AC, and when we got there they had already booked them all out - we were not happy. In the end, the staff ended up making us a reservation at a nearby hotel and actually PAYING US the money difference... she handed up 50 euro for us to stay in a better place. Unreal,...

we had a good time and we liked the hostal very much. We'd apreciated more ventilation in the bathrooms (for the heat), a proper stopper for the tub and a little maintenance for the steps on the stairs.

We had a nice time in Hostal EL Cid. A kitchen would have been nice, but we manage to do without. The location is perfect, just in the heart of Valencia. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and do not like to share a room with a lot of people, this is the place to go.
