This area is home to buried catacombs and an abbey. It's also the location of the Fiesta of San Cecilio, when large crowds gather to celebrate the city's first bishop and Granada's patron saint, Caecilius of Elvira (San Cecilio).

    From Plaza Nueva you can reach the Sacromonte district with a nice “walking tour” as far as the top. Here caves have been turned into dwellings occupied by gypsies.
