The Alhambra is a city by itself. This area is built on a hill and surrounded by walls. I was told that Alhambra means Red Palace in Arabic. It consists of several main parts, surrounded by even more nice places. The most important elements are: - The Alcazaba (the fortress) - Palacio de los Nazaries (the Nasrid palace), which is for most people the most spectacular part. - Palacio Carlos V (the newest and least interesting part of the Alhambra) - The Generalife Gardens, which lie on another hill, slightly to the side. |

'La Alhambra y Generalife' is the most important historical building of the city. Needs all of a day to visit completely and during the night is marvelous. |

Fantastic mixture of Christian and Islamic culture and art. Loved it. The arquitecture, the gardens, the view from the hill...it's like being in a dream during 4/5 hours. |

The white, Moorish quarter, interesting from an architectural point of view and characterized by small narrow streets. There is the Mirador San Nicolás whit an charming view on Alhambra. Make shopping onto the bazar and stop in some teterias in order to drink a cup of tea |

You need at least half day to visit the whole Alhambra. Inside this palace-fortress you can admire the Palacio Nazaries and have a stroll in the Generalife, the Alhambra’s marvellous gardens.
If you are going to visit the Alhambra in the summer I recommend you to get a ticket online at www.granada.org to avoid waking up early and queuing for a good while |

From Plaza Nueva you can reach the Sacromonte district with a nice “walking tour” as far as the top. Here caves have been turned into dwellings occupied by gypsies. From the district you have an amazing view of the city and the Alhambra. If you are visiting the Sacromonte late in the evening do not miss one of the flamenco shows in the several clubs. If you fancy flamenco you can enjoy the shows performed in La Chumbera (you can get tickets in the city centre for 5 EURO). |

Strolling around the narrow alleys of the Albayzin, the Muslim quarter, is an amazing experience. You feel you are in a different place, you are surrounded by exotic perfumes and scents coming out from small bazars and teterias. The picturesque and colourful streets create a sort of labyrinth where getting lost is “dangerously” fascinating. |

It's one of the best monuments you can see in Andalusian. It's a brilliant arabic building which is over the city. It's good to see it at night. |
