Small but clean room. The staff is very nice. The street is a bit noisy at night, but the thing that bothered me was the lack of telephone in the room or in the lobby.

Teeny tiny room. Twin beds were pushed together with little room around the edges. Headboard banged the wall with the slightest movement. Location is fantastic and the price was too. I think we got what we paid for.

The staff was great and the hotel was in a perfect location. But the rooms smelled like smoke and the bathrooms were tiny with mildew stains around the shower.

Very good location, friendly staff, good room size, big shower! In the ground floor they have a good tapas bar, where you can have a good cheaper breakfast at any hour (but not early morning in mondays and thursdays)

The room was very small and in the morning there was no hot water. It wasn't a great place to meet people as the meeting area is the bar next door, which is more of a boring cafeteria, and closes really early. On top of that - the staff all looked like they'd rather be dead. I wouldn't recommed...

It was a very basic hostel, which is ok as you get what you pay for, however for two out of three days we didn't have any hot water to shower (which was pretty grim anyway). The staff didn't seem too bothered, although it's not their fault but the management need to sort themselves out. Great...

This was a nice hostel to stay in, the room was clean and had a nice balcony onto the street. The bathroom was clean and the bed was comfortable. All you need really! The staff were sometimes not behind the desk as the hostel runs a little bar/cafe next door so if they don't see you at reception... more

A very expensive Hostel : 32 euros for 9 meter square. Breakfast is not included in the price... The street of the hostel is a very animated one, especially during Semana Santa, and phonic isolation is totally lacking : i thought that the street was in my room ! The staff is not very welcoming.... more

The only problem we had was finding the place - it says to get off after the cathedral and of course we didn't know which building the cathedral was.

It's a hostal ("cheap hotel"), not a hostel, so meeting other travelers in the non-existent common room isn't likely to happen. However, if you are traveling with other people or simply need to get away from a hostel for a day or two, it's a great place to stay. Very reasonably priced...

Hostal Penelope is wonderful! Great location near everthing, great staff (who speak English which is very helpful to those of us with bad Spanish), rooms basic but neat and clean. As it is on a street with many tapas bars, it can be loud at night, but you shouldn't be going to bed early anyway... more
