Cordoba City Guide

overall city rating 70%

Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain, and the capital of the province of Córdoba. It was founded in ancient Roman times as Corduba by Claudius Marcellus. Today a moderately-sized modern city, the old town contains many impressive architectural reminders of when Cordoba was the thriving capital of the Caliphate of Cordoba that governed almost all of the Iberian peninsula. It has been estimated that Cordoba, with up to 500,000 inhabitants in the tenth century, was the largest city in Western Europe and, perhaps, in the world.

Cordoba is beautiful. The location is perfect, central and in a lovely area. Staff were amazing, Juliana gave me so much advice and local information. Beds are very comfy! Ensuites in all rooms. Rooftop terrace for sunbaking! GREAT value for money.

Mezquita is fantastic, such a mixture of religions and cultures in the same place...awsome. I loved the Reales Alcazares too. The landscape is much better in winter, in summer everything was so dry, and the river was almost disappeared!
