Wonderful landscape, tours, tourist facilities. Cheap accomodations, food, drinks, taxis.... The service is brilliant. The sad thing is that you cannot go to the city center as there is too much crime. A guide drove us through Jo'Burg and we only saw a handful of white people. It is overcrowded as millions of Africans flocked in the city. Forget about public transport, it does not exist. It is hard to get a taxi as well so that we could not go out on a saturday night... Hopefully after the World Cup, it will become nicer.close

I feel Joburg has more to offer but it has such a bad reputation that people don't bother with it.close

Patrick picked us up and dropped us off at the airport and even offered to drive us in to Johannesburg. Really an amazing guy and I\'m sure you\'ll enjoy your stay with him in South Africa.close

Jo'Burg is definitely an odd city. From the outside you'd imagine it was a European city. There aren't a massive number of "sites" or cultural activities, so I think most travellers use it as a base to head out to other areas. Johannesburg is a city you either love or hate, or love and hate simultaneously. It's very similar to Los Angeles, in that it's a huge, sprawling metropolis with skyscrapers and an eerie red haze at sundown. Most travelers only stay here for a day before going off on a safari or such, but stay for a few days if you can. Who knows, you might end up loving it.close

11We very much enjoyed our stay at Bob's Bunkhouse. The staff was overly friendly and we really enjoyed the quiet surrounding. Shops are close and the airport is only a 10 minutes drive away. There's not much entertainment though, but if you're looking for a nice stay in a quiet, warm, friendly...

Judith Lodge 86%
Judith Lodge is situated in the leafy residential suburb of Emmarentia, right next door to vibey and bohemian Melville. Emmarentia Dam and surrounding park is a stones throw away. Here you can stroll around the dam, go boating or fishing and generally enjoy some peace and quiet in the bustling city. Melvile Koppies is a nature reserve a short walk away, where nature is...

My friend and I had to wait an hour to be picked up from the airport. The staff couldn't speak much English and was not very friendly. The room was okay, but it wasn't worth the money. We had a twin room with a private bathroom. The bathroom was not clean. Before I went to this hostel I had...

Lion Park100%
This is a great day trip to do from Jo'Burg. We entered the park in a 4x4 and couldn't believe how close we got to the lions, they just walk up and start checking out the jeep. There are other animals apart from lions but this is what you go to experience. We got to go into a pen with lion cubs and play with them. The size of their paws is what shocks you....
