It is a seaside resort very popular with Poles and now the Germans and Scandinavians are also beginning to discover it. I can understand why. It is a lovely little town with a very pretty main street, a beautiful seafront promenade and park and some really excellent restaurants. Gdansk is a short train ride away, as is Gdynia (but not much to see there). I would recommend Sopot for someone who likes the seaside but doesn't like the Mediterranean. There is a tennis tournament there during the summer and a number of music festivals, so there are things to do. There is also a festival of organ music every summer in the nearby Oliwa Cathedral which is well worth attending. Sea, sand, a lovely resort, good food with music and culture thrown in - a winner. It deserves to be discovered by more people.close

This café is close both to the main street and park leading to the beach. It is quite trendy but friendly and the food is very good - much lighter than some heavier food elsewhere. Nice salads, fish and chicken dishes, good steaks too.
