It is particularly moving and definitely worth a visit as a testimony to the inhumanity of war, and for the heartening resourcefulness in the face of extreme adversity.... more The Changi Museum is dedicated to the civilian internees and POWs held during the Japanese occupation of Singapore in 1942. It is particularly moving and definitely worth a visit as a testimony to the inhumanity of war, and for the heartening resourcefulness in the face of extreme adversity. Entrance is free but it is well worth paying for the audio tour that describes the conditions, daily life and events surrounding the Changi internees. You'll need to take a train then a bus to get there unless you opt for the easier taxi option. Its close to the airport so if you've got a short stopover you could make a trip here.close

   I'm not a big fan of going to see animals in confined spaces, so I never visit zoos when travelling. But Singapore's 'Night Safari' is different - the animals are walking around pretty much in the open! This enormous park has zebra, lions, elephants and way more. Not to be missed.

   Orchard Road for large shopping malls and top brand names, but don't expect rock-bottom prices for top labels. Go to Chinatown and Little India for smaller shops and market stalls.
