Ceiling fans, of the wafting kind rather than the whirling kind, deep-set verandahs and an opulent colonial style make it a great place to put your feet up on a trip around town. You can wander around the courtyards as well - and into the many boutique shops that have sprung up in the hotel if that's the type of thing you want. But I'd probably recommend steering clear of the rampant souvenir shops and keep your eyes on the fantastic architecture of the Raffles Hotel.close

Located in Raffles Hotel, the Long Bar is where the world famous Singapore Sling was invented. The cocktails themselves are pretty pricey, but going to Singapore and not having one is unheard of.
