L'Aia, the name for the old threshing floor, is located in the Tuscan countryside, just one kilometre from Siena and four kilometres from the historical centre of Siena. The grouping consists of six apartments and four individual rooms which are spaced around an open courtyard. All are housed in newly renovated farm buildings, with private bathrooms, satellite TV, air-conditioning, hairdryers and washing machines. There is a regular bus service into nearby Siena, and a shop and pizzeria restaurant are within walking distance. NEW!! From 2004 we will have a swimming pool for our guests (6mt. x 12mt.)

Located only 100 m from the tower. That is great. If you will come by car you will have parking problems but anyhow for this price the Hotel is great. I will come 2nd time on my next Tuscany trip!

It is a cool place to stay. Just confusing when locating it though, as the directions on the web link to the place where you check in, but the map is for the location of where you stay.... which is about 5 mins drive away from the reception.

The road uopini is so hard to find, at least we have to call a texi, that cost us much:( and the breakfest is in the next B&B, the staff didn't told us last night, while no staff appeared until 9 in the morning, so we miss the breakfest, that's realy upset us...

Absolutely beautiful place to stay, exactly what we were looking for! Just far enough away from the centre. The grounds were just gorgeous. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to come back next year.

Far from the heart of Siena. If you dont have a car, you will need a taxi to reach it. 10 minute car ride to the train station. The house itself is great - complete with a nice kitchen and a vineyard. Great view. More like a villa than a hotel. Great place to stay for a night.

Buildings lovely, we had one room in house. Communal kitchen but missing everyday items - no cutlery, plates, essential corkscrew!! Only pizzaria nearby. Def need a car. Also reception is actually a 5 min drive away hence two addresses given.

Tuscany countryside and bulding at its best. Loved the views, olive grove and swimming pool down the hillside. Very clean and neat, I truly felt I was part of a farm. Also close enough to travel to Siena for an evening meal.

A lovely property with many olive trees, very green and well kept. Our room was big, very clean and nicely furnished. The bathroom was also big with 2 sinks. There is a shared kitchen with a fridge. We just weren't aware until the end of our week in Tuscany that breakfast in Italy is generally no big deal. You can't expect more than a coffee/tea and a prepacked croissant, biscuits and some jam. But if you know that, you won't be disappointed. Car parking is good. You can take a public bus leaving in front of the house to get into the city but we did not want to be limited to the timetable, so we did not try it out.close

Nice and quiet place to stay. The pool is amazing (although a little cold) and the view of the sunset from the back yard is beautiful. There is a nice pizza place nearby that is cheap and delicious. It's about a 10 minute bus ride into the center of the city. I recommend this place.

We requested and were confirmed for a 2 bed room, but this property does not even have 2 bed rooms. Although a self-serve breakfast was provided, adequate utensils and dishes were not provided. The phone could not dial out (a major hassel, especially from a hotel), the rooms were poorly insulated, and we could not use our own electronic equipment (ie hairdrier, etc) due to faulty wiring at the property. Otherwise, it was beautiful!close

It takes only 10 minutes by bus No. 30 from Siena. Though the bus is not very frequent, the farmhouse is easily access by non-drivers. Expect to have more farm related activities there.

The surroundings are beyond description and it's well worth staying off the beaten path, but we highly recommend having a car, because L'Aia is located in a pretty secluded area with no really close proxemity to dining or nightlife. Siena is a very short drive away, however. Overall, an excellent, welcoming, romantic place to stay with tons of Tuscan character--you won't be sorry!close

This is a great place to stay outside of Siena. You have to get a bus into town, but the distance was made up for the fact that the room was part of a secluded farmhouse in an olive grove. Rooms were beautiful and rustic, with all modern amenities.

This was the criteria for us to choose this accomodation and so we were very disappointed. It's very hot around Siena these days, so a refreshment would be more than welcome. And the sea is far away. Another disappointment was the so called breakfast - it was every day exactly the same bagpacked stuff and didn't taste at all ... after the 3rd day you could not see it. The windows of Spiga 3, the room we've got, was directly situated to the street side and very noisy, so we could only sleep with closed window. Besides this the accomodation has got a real nice character ... but it would be better, if there would be served a fresh made breakfast instead of cleaning the room every day. Best regards stefanclose
