Quite possibly one of the best places I've stayed at. The breakfasts are amazing, you get a private room even if you book dorm, and a great bar area. I'd go back tomorrow!!

Cambodia is not a clean country so if you dont like dirt, dont go...this place is relatively clean by comparison to others, the staff speak English & its not too bad a location. Cockroaches & rats evident though. Also, the food, although nice, was VERY expensive, shop around locally.

No WIFI, but you can buy from the gas station use in the room. When going to Angkor Wat, take it slower (2-3 days) to have a nicer experience. Take a bike 1 day, but make sure it has a light or leave by 4pm to avoid the dark.close

They will BORROW one from somewhere with NO locks and warned you have to pay USD5 or more if you lost it! PLUS, u CANNOT use free bikes at night!! Do we suppose to prepare a bicycle lock by ourselves?! In addition, "Not free" airport and bus station pick-up. At first, it's free but they will tell you after you use the service---you have to use their tuk tuk drivers during your whole trip otherwise they will charge you for the pick-up!! Feeling very bad! I asked a twin bed room for the 2nd day and they promised it's fine but they said no room available when my friend checked-in. Only the hamburger is ok...anyway, my friend and I only stayed two nights and we moved out!!close

We were lying in bed and from a crack between the ceiling and the wall fell a black 8-inch rat tail. We were shocked! After that we could hear them squeeking and running around above our heads all night long! We couldn't switch hostels because they make you pay ahead and they wouldn't give us our money back. When we complained to the staff, they totally disregarded the problem and didn't seem to be concerned about it. We asked to be put in another room and they said they didn't have availability! On top of that, on our last day we asked one of the staff to please help us with a bus we had to catch, he told us he didn't want to help us because we hadn't booked the bus with him! We almost lost our bus to Thailand because of him! Afterwards, a tuk-tuk driver told us he had heard many complains about Jasmine Guesthouse because they only thing they want is to make money without really caring. They also advertised bikes and told us to meet them at 7am and then they told us the bikes were broken and we had to wait around for them. We stayed in many places during our trip and this was by far the only bad one. They were also the only nasty people we encountered in Cambodia, which is too bad. Not only they were not helpfull at all but they were personally rude and disrespectful, calling names and being insulting. DO NOT STAY HERE - THEY HAVE RATS AND ARE TERRIBLY RUDE!close

They weren't very helpful when we requested help when our collection for our bus to Bangkok was late, and simply dissmissed us, telling us to contact the Company directly. As we checked in, the demolition of the neighbouring building took place to make way for more rooms and nothing was told to us or any other guests. The noise and dust made it difficult to rest. The restaurant food was tasty and good value, but took a while to arrive and get right when ordering. The rooms were never cleaned and we were told that you had the 'ask' for this. Overall, the service seemed ingenuine, all the while eager to take your money, but not so eager to provide effective service.close

Due to the location I decided that I would not be honoring my HostelWorld booking. When I arrived the employee (Manager?) said that the reception wasnt open until 6pm , he could have walked up the stairs to check us in but didnt seem to want to make the effort. The internet facility didnt work, there was only one PC that had access and he told me he was using it himself! The food was very bad quality, my friend ordered fried beef and it was two pieces of beef that had been almost burnt with a plate of rice! I verbally told the Manager(?) that I would not be honoring my booking for the following day amd he said okay, I followed this up with an email the next day. He responded that I would be charged one night as my email did not give 24 hrs notice! When I responded back to him he sent me a racist email saying that people like me complain because we dont like Cambodian people and that we only like our own 'people'. A shocking experience, the location is away from town, the food poor and the Manager a disgrace.close

For example, when I touched down at the airport, even though the hostel promised free airport transfer, I could not find their representative despite waiting for nearly half an hour (although representatives from other hotels are clearly visible). Then I have no choice but to pay for my own transport to the hostel. However, when I reached the hostel, the owner said that he did send someone down to fetch me, and hence seemed unhappy about the fact that I did not take their transport. That is rather unreasonable. I got the blame despite having to pay for my own transport. On another occasion, I dined at their restaurant but was made to wait for more than one hour for the food. If there are too many customers, I can understand the long wait. But at least the staff should inform me first that I may have to wait for a long time so that maybe I can go somewhere else first. But they didn't. And whenever I asked about my food, they told me its coming soon. Then the worst thing is that I booked a boat ticket with them. They told me that a vehicle will fetch me from the hostel to the pier. But no one came. I called on the hostel reception several times, but the staff was sleeping and became very annoyed at me for disturbing his sleep. In the end, I have to wait till the hostel owner arrived and he called a driver to send me to the pier. His attitude was also very poor, despite the fact that I had waited more than one hour(5.30am to 6.40am, when everyone was still in bed) for the vehicle. Not all staffs are rude, however. But although some of the staffs are reasonably polite, but not very knowledgeable about the hostel itself or information about the city. This is perhaps another point the hostel should take note of.close

I booked ahead online, and when I arrived (well before the 9pm "re-sell bed" deadline), my bed had been given away. The disorganization didn't piss me off, it was the manager's attitude towards me: like I had ruined his day by showing up at all. He offered me a double for the night, which I paid (and was overcharged) for. The next morning, his pissiness and general negativity continued, despite the fact that I booked more nights at Jasmine in the very room that had originally been promised. I had been expecting much, much better atmosphere from the Lonely Planet write-up, and I was bitterly let down by my first guesthouse experience in Cambodia. The share bathroom was constantly festy and half-broken as well.close
