moreWhen you get off the plane and exit on the ground level, there are 2 options. 1 is to take the airport shuttle bus to the People Square (Ren Min Guang Chang).
2nd option is what you prefer in this time. So take the lift to the upper level (1st floor) and follow the Meglev sign, when you see the right hand side entrance which leads you to another wing of the airport, you may turn right and walk about 500m to see the Meglev entrance also KFC fast food store is over there. You can purchase your train ticket through the counter.
You need to present your boarding pass or air-ticket to the counter to receive the 10% discounted fare which should be RMB 40/ticket. Then buy only one way ticket since the round trip ticket is only valid for the same day.
The meglev will operate from 7:00 until 21:00. Every 20 mins per train.
The whole trip from Pudong Airport to Long Yang Road Subway Station is around 8 mins with maximum operation speed at 430km/h.
Please find the official meglev website for details: http://www.smtdc.com/en/index.asp
After enjoying your first time meglev trip, you need to go to the ground floor to catch the subway (Line 2 – Green Line) from Long Yang Road Station to Puxi (West Side).
Once you are in the metro, you need to find the final direction to Song Hong Road and get on that train to People’s Square (Ren Min Guang Chang). From Long Yang Rd. to People’s Square, it takes about 7 stops, the 8th stop is People’s Square.
The metro ticket for this trip is around RMB 4.00/trip. The regular metro ticket is from RMB 3 – 5 depends on the length of the trip. You can find the auto ticket machine with English instruction. Do prepare RMB 10 or RMB 5 or some coins.
You can find the metro operation timetable easily in the station. Normally it will finish around 22:00 to 23:00. Then taxi is always the best option for late night life.
