The room was noisy and smelt of smoke but it... more The Metropole was impressive upon arrival but it went down hill shortly after we approached the reception desk. We were met with rude and agrumentative staff who over charged us for the room and failed to deliver any standard of customer service. The room was noisy and smelt of smoke but it served our needs appropriately. Room service was good and the housekeeping staff were friendly in contrast to the reception staff. It's located in a fairly good position, only a 5 or 10 minute walk to most attractions.close

Great location close to the bund. Really a proper hotel rather than a hostel. Awesome shower!! Shanghai is pretty noisey so no matter where you end up I would take some ear plugs.

The rooms smell a bit musty, but for the price it's an excellent Location in Shanghai.

It was a very nice hotel...good standard with nice rooms. People were nice to help you. It is only 5 min. walk from the bund and app. 10-15 walk from the subway. I can definetly recommend this hotel.

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that in both cases, at the Metropole in Shanghai and the Lishi in Beijing, they did not accept the fact that I had paid a deposit. I even showed them the e-mail that you sent to me indicating that I only owed the remainder. The e-mail was... more I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that in both cases, at the Metropole in Shanghai and the Lishi in Beijing, they did not accept the fact that I had paid a deposit. I even showed them the e-mail that you sent to me indicating that I only owed the remainder. The e-mail was dismissed and they both said that I owed the whole amount so I ended up paying them the full amount for five nights at both locations. I was not impressed. I have now ended up paying for six nights at each location even though I only stayed five nights: not much of a deal!!close
