One of my favorite attractions in Edinburgh was the Royal Yacht Britannia. If you are into royal history, this should be a must on your sightseeing agenda. The yacht is moored at the Ocean Terminal which has some shops, restaurants and a movie theater. It is amazing to see how dated and simple... more One of my favorite attractions in Edinburgh was the Royal Yacht Britannia. If you are into royal history, this should be a must on your sightseeing agenda. The yacht is moored at the Ocean Terminal which has some shops, restaurants and a movie theater. It is amazing to see how dated and simple the furnishings in the royal quarters were. Looks like they haven't renovated since the 1950's! There is a famous photo of Princess Diana greeting her sons with a hug on the deck of the yacht and it gave us a chill to stand in the same spot. After the tour (which is self guided audio so you can go at your own pace) we had lunch in a buffet-style restaurant (Ocean Grille, I think) overlooking the yacht and the harbor. Ocean Terminal is easy to get to via public transport as there is a bus that goes direct from the Waverly Bridge area.close
