I always think Edinburgh has a touch of magic about it! Maybe its the castle that looms over the city that gives it its medieval mood...but it's a place that I just can't keep myself away from for too long! Highlights for me are the views from Princess gardens on a sunny day, taking the whiskey tour and sampling some fine drams, strolling through history along the royal mile (don't wear heels...they're not cobblestone friendly), and frequenting the ever eclectic assortment of bars and cafe's that dot the city. Edinburgh isn't the cheapest place around, but I think the scottish accent is worth a few pennies :). Cockburn street is a gem: Just around the corner from the train station in the old town, this steep curvy street throws up a colorful array of tattoo artists, clothing, jewellery, eateries, and even a little old shop where bonbons , pear drops and licorice are sold by weight. Cliche I know but Edinburgh really does have something for everyone. Oh, and don't forget Arthurs Seat! I'm not sure if it's classed as a hill or a mountain, but on a nice day, climb to the top, give yourself a pat on the back, breath in the fresh air and take in the views of Edinburgh, the sea and the landscape beyond. And have a pint in the The World's End pub on your way back :)

I just love Edinburgh, only a short hop from Dublin but with so much to see and do. Its historical and yet contemporary, with lots of pubs that serve cheap and tasty morsels. The Fringe Festival although a crazy time to be there is a buzz with shows on the open street and down narrow steep lanes. The castle adds to the dramatic and theatrical appeal of the place.

Love, love, love this city. I know it's a cliche but it really does have something for everyone...well almost everyone. There is always a good buzz about the place and the shopping, eating out and partying is legendary. Oh god I want to go back.

Great city - its beautiful, old, clean, friendly and great fun. It's expensive for us who have to exchange euro into sterling, but other than that its all good. The main shopping street is Princes St and is overlooked by the old castle on the hil, very picturesque and as a result doesnt feel like you are in a big city. Shopping is good, great restaurants and bars. Lots to do outside of the city too if you feel like a break.

Cool city. Great architecture, good pubs, slightly cheaper beer than England, bagpipers everywhere, giant nature park that resembles the Highlands is easy to walk to, as is everything else.

Mary Kings Close, is creepy and somewhat disgusting when you think about the history of the town, but it was a really great tour. Pubs all over, wanna see a great deal of them? Visit "Worlds End" on High Street and ask about the pub crawl. Take the "Wild in Scotland" bus tour from Edinburgh. Its absolutely awesome value for your money and the guides are the greatest. Great way to see the country, and meet more people.

Probably my favourite city in Europe. Have been there loads of times at this stage. It's the perfect size to see everything and there's lots to see. The Old Town is perfect for tourists while the locals stay more in the New Town. Great restuarants and bars also. Weather is the only thing that's suspect.

I visited Edinburgh for a weekend in June this year! There is so much whiskey there!!! Despite really bad weather, we had a great weekend ! There is so much to do in Edinburgh (if you can keep away from the whiskey!) such as sight seeing, tours, shopping, eating in the beautiful restaurants and drinking in the many pubs that you will never be bored! Even after all the sight seeing and tours are done, just wandering the quaint streets around the Royal Mile is the Grass Market area is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening! I was blown away by the architecture in the city and you get a great feel for the history as you walk around. There is a certain magic in Edinburgh which can really be felt as you walk the Royal Mile especially up near the castle grounds. It is bustling with tourists from all over the world. Edinburgh Castle dominates the city, and as soon as you lay eyes on it, you will realise why 1000’s of tourists come to see the castle every year. It is really amazing! Our tour of the castle was definitely my main highlight. There were many other highlights of my trip - two more on the top of my list were the walk to King Arthur’s Seat where you can take in great views of the city and spending an afternoon in Princes Street Gardens. Edinburgh is well worth a visit - a little expensive but I recommend it 100%!

The Fringe is the best . August is basically the month of festivals and fringe is a part of it. You have plays, flms , arts all happening at the same time.Do drop in at the half price hut near the weaverly station for tickets for the plays which go for half price or less.

Edinburgh city is a cosmopolitan city, where you can see and hear a lot of tourists from everywhere in the world. For food, enjoy a nice lunch in the Castle of Edinburgh. Located inside the castle and close by you can restaurants/cafes decorated in the Scottish style! You can also ‘enjoy’ the sound of a bag-pipes while you are eating.

I\'m not a party girl, so can\'t really rate that area. It was cool and windy while I was there, but it didn\'t keep me away from attractions or from walking around the city.

My second time of visiting Edinburgh and it was better than last time. Firstly, the accomodation was excellent quality all round, they had plenty of offers (walking tours, pub crawls) all for a reason price!! secondly all the offers at the local shops, bars etc wer fantastic and really helped when it came to budgeting.

I don\'t think there\'s enough space to describe this amazing town! It\'s simply one of the best (maybe THE best) towns I ever visited so far! there you can find really everything you could even imagine to need or look for: every possible kind of shops, restaurants and other amenities, a great nightlife, a vivid cultural environment and wonderful landscapes, both downtown and outside. If you\'ve never done it yet, pack your bag and fly there straight on!

I totally loved my weekend in Edinburgh. It only takes you a few minutes, to stand on the bridge that leads to the Old Town and have a look around. It is amazing, like being in a different era. Iwouldn’t be surprised if there were no cars! Tall, gothic buildings, stone layered streets, sweet little houses, colourful shops and the constant feeling of a cold breeze are Edi’s main ‘feautures’. Its a compact city, ideal for those who enjoy a long walk, you can visit most of the main attractions in just 1-2 hrs. For those fans of art, Edi is a heaven, with the dark, gothic architecture, the museum of Scotland (go up to the terrace, the view is priceless), the National Gallery. There is of course the commercial side of the city, with Princess Str. and its brand shops. But my favourite part of the weekend was the walk up to Carlton Hill. Greatest view of the city, simple breathtaking. Overall, Edinburgh is a city that, I think, stands out because of the feeling it gives to the traveller, a feeling that you live in a medieval, yet kinda modern, fairytale. Highly recommended.

Just come back from the city. The climate isn't the peculiarity of the area, but we knew it. Gothic, neoclassic and victorian architecture styles give an atmosphere you hardly could find in another place. First I have to say that I went there to partecipate to the Edinburgh International Harp Festival (yeah! I'm a celtic-harpist ;) ) which has been FANTASTIC, but I also took advantage of being there to visit the city. Bagpipers anywhere you look at and the dark stones contrasting the green hills make the panorama quite mysterious. Tha castle on the rock gives you a magnific view of what is all around and you can't miss visiting it..maybe waiting also for 1 o'clock p.m. in work days eheh ;) Many museums are free and beautiful (the National Art gallery, for example) and also the whole Royal Mile is really really interesting. We preferred drinking and eating in pubs, which are quite cheap (dinner for £ 10, including extraordinary beer) and...if you like music, this is your city! many shops of instruments and live music quite anywhere after 10 p.m. :D I have bought so many sheets of traditional written music that I thought they couldn't enter the luggages...but they finally could! :) Great city, great staying, great music, friends and beer! Enjoy Edinburgh ;D

This has been one of my best exp ever... the city so nice and even though it modern,,, it still has its rich historical precence all around it ...People are lovely and quiet co-operating and helpful... if u are lost and not sure where to go ... dont mind asking .... even the bus drivers are helpful(never seen that in many of the cities... )... View from Arthur\'s Seat is amazing ... it one hell or a climb...but a climb worth it .. overall..i will be going back again soon....

Climbing Arthur\'s Seat on an good day is a must! Great shopping and awesome pubs and clubs. Easy to get around and reccommend doing a tour up to the Highlands and Loch Ness. Company called Scotline Tours does a good day trip for £30. Best coffee shop would be Cafe Nero.

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. It\'s small enough to navigate on foot- but big enough that you will want to spend a few days there. Plenty to see and the Scottish culture can\'t be beat
