The hostel is located in a bad part of the city. When we checked in, we had to go to a different hostel accross the street because the Edinburgh City Guest House had been broken in to. It is not located close to any bars or restaurants. Our room was only cleaned once and breakfast was not...

The hotel is not too difficult to find and you are far away enough from the nightlife so as not to be disturbed by the noise but close enough to get to it easily. The rooms were really great, and everywhere was really clean. We never made it up for breakfast but it smelled pretty good.

A bit too expensive. The day after we stayed in Glasgow 25 £ cheaper at a better hotel !

I would suggest that the breakfast to be served is not always the same. I hope next time there will be a variety. The property is cleaned & accesible to town. We enjoyed staying there. Thank you so much.

We enjoyed our stay here. Would go back again as it was close (5-10 mins walking) to the centre, clean and affordable. All good. Thanks

Front door at top of stairs to guest house also difficult to open. didnt mix the keys up.. could do with tea or coffee making facility in room all places ive been have this facility we bought bottled water to drink during the night. Tv reception poor.re-tuned it but still unable to get agood reception so swithched it off. A Hot cooked breakfast would be nice apart from fresh toast & serial . especially when it's freezing outside. Tea & Coffee was served at breakfast which was nice. Ensuite Shower not working properly spent 15 minutes trying to get warm water. Went through all the functions unable to keep it luke warm. it went from cold to extremly hot & back to cold withing a few seconds when set to what looked a moderate warm temperatre this kept happening so I jumped in washed when it was luke warm jumped out when it was to hot or to cold . not happy about that. on a whole the room & bathroom very clean just lacked some basic amenities. The price was right & it looked good for a short break. Would I use the guest house again not sure. didnt highlight the problem to management at the time because we were out for most of the day & came back in late afternoon for a Nap. if it had been a week then may have mentioned it. Staff friendly Thx for the stay.close

Our television did not work for the first three days despite the fact that every morning we asked the proprietor to fix it. We were then still expected to pay the full amount due- in cash which we felt posed a safety risk having to carry such a large amount of cash. The lights did not work one afternoon and since there was no one on hand (the proprietor only being at the property between 8am-10am each morning) it was sometime before this problem was resolved. One other issue is that during our four day stay the room was never cleaned which considering the fact that this accommodation was expensive in comparison to other places of similar standard it was a bit of a disappointment to say the least!close

It was a great dissapointment, and it does not live up to the expectations of a guesthouse! It should be called , travelers hostel! we did not even get a english breakfast, just one thing one expects when you pay 35 pounds per person per night! I feel robbed of what should have been a great first time visit for my family! I already send the guesthouse a letter regarding this and also the Edinburgh tourism buro! I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what one is to do when you've had an experiance like this? It just seems wrong for a place like this to take your money and not live up to normal expectations! looking forward to hear from you!close
