Santorini City Guide

overall city rating 83%

Santorini is a crescent moon shaped island, the southernmost of the Cycladic chain in the Aegean Sea. The island’s spectacular geography is due to an extensive history of volcanic activity. An eruption over 3,500 years ago resulted in 2 additional smaller islands to form, now known as Palea Kameni and Nea Kameni. The islands are great for a day trip, and are easily reached by boat from Fira, the main town of Santorini. A boat trip is also an ideal way to appreciate the sunsets, widely regarded as among the most beautiful in the world. The island has a history which stretches back thousands of years. The museums of Prehistoric Thera and the Archaeological museum, both located in Fira, showcase artwork and sculptures thousands of years old. The nightlife on the island is excellent; Erythrou Staurou Street in Fira, known locally as Bar Street, is a great place to start.

The land is mostly covered with vinards, and isn't that amazing to look at. what really makes this island amazing is the black sand, and other beaches, and the amazing, AMAZING, view from the cliff side of the island.
