A great place, really relaxed. The people are really friendly and there's lots to see here. It is reasonably safe by American standards as well. |

One of my favourite American cities as much for the people as for anything else! There are lots of things to do and see such as Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge and of course the incredible undulating streets! |

The only problem I had with San Francisco is that I didn't have nearly enough time there...oh and those hills, killer... Other than that I loved everything about it and can't wait to go back. |

I've ived all over the USA; born in Albany, NY and raised all over the east coast, mid-west and time in Toronto, Canada. San Francisco is the most unique, romantic and fun cities I've ever been to. |

San Francisco is an amazing city. Very chilled out with plenty to do and see. Isnt too expensive either. Make sure to visit Alcatraz, China Town and take a trip on the old trams. |

A very nice city, not too big, and one of the very few american cities where you don't need a car. There are a lot of areas you can walk (Chinatown, Union sq., Castro, Mission, Haight st, the Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's wharf...), and with a couple of bus or subway rides you can know the major part of the city in a couple of days. I've been three days: two for the city and another one for a ride to Napa Valley, that is very beautifull. It's a very european city, and can look like London: the houses, the weather, and the bohemian Haight st, that remind me Camden Town.Nice city. |

I really love this city. It is so accessible and it has everything you need. |

a wee bit crap cos u are in Chinatown with loads of lapdancing clubs which brings bad people around the place, 6/10 |

I loved San Francisco. It rained two of my three days of stay, but that was much better than the freezing cold of the East Coast. Next time I will bring an umbrella though. |

i heard so much good things about the city, that´s why at first i was disappointed, but in the end i really enjoyed san fran. if i had known that the western part of the city is sooo cool, i wouldn´t have spent so much needless time at the touristic spots in the east: e.g. fisherman´s wharf and union square. the mission, castro and the area around height street are definately what made the city a great, exciting experience !
not to forget golden gate park !!! |

I loved San Francisco. The people are all really friendly - and the city itself is very beautiful.
I would advise anyone who visits to take the boat trip out to Alcatraz - as that was worth every penny!
The cable cars where cool - and the guys that worked on them where good fun - a right laugh. |

 |
Ditch LA + do San Fran instead 10 times better! |
|
|
 |
Plenty of good culture, food and sights reward those who can handle the hills on foot. |

SAN FRANCISCO IS REALLY A BIG CITY |

I have done New York, Las Vegas and LA, nothing compares to San Francisco. I always stay at Hostels, and I got to admit that does have an impact on how you feel about overall. My last two trips, the AAE Amsterdam and the Adeline (I think) were the best choices. Save money and read stuff on line before you go, I got free drinks and food, and a great deal on a bike for 7USD a day and saw all of SF this time! |

We love SF. It is a wonderful city and we were able to visit a lot of places and did a lot of shopping. The people were cool.
We really like the musicians on the streets. They were good. But why are they on the streets. Are there already too many musicians trying to make it happen in SF. It is unfortunate. |

It was a great stay with a great staff, very nice and very helpful. Location is great too, closed to everything. Rooms and commun areas are very nice and clean. I really enjoyed the free waffle breakfast too! |

I liked it, the whole city has a cool vibe going on and feels a lot safer than I thought. |

forget going to all the sights, dont be a tourist... check out the northbeach area (city lights books, the beat museum, washington square and all the great bistros) or spend a day at golden gate park (you really could spend a whole day here.... beautiful esp the japanese tea garden) go to haight ashbury or castro district for a real cultural experience. |

It is not the best city that I have gone in my life but it is not the worst too
so a city to see but not to stay |

some nice sights but not as beautiful as las vegas |

Like any major city, you can get around SF on a shoestring budget, but it's also really easy to look into your wallet only to find that all of your money has disappeared. Just know what you want to do and what you can afford and plan accordingly. |

Definitely the best city for the visitor along with New York. So much to see - Alcatraz, Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars. Nice and small also so you can see loads in a small space of time. |

Avoid 6th street off market street, kinda scary and bring an umbrella. |

public transit is decent, but not great. lots of hills, so be prepared with good shoes. all-in-all, SF is a great city with wonderful scenery. Try Seattle first though- it is smaller, but cleaner w/ nicer people, and much cheaper. |

San Fran is a great city to visit on foot, unlike LA that was designed for cars. Must-sees are the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and the hippie area of Haight and Ashbury. I highly recommend the FREE cable car museum. It explains the unique mechanism that drives the 130+year of San Francisco cable cars. |

San Francisco is friendly and welcoming to tourists, is easy to get around by bus, challenging but fun by foot, and is a beautiful place to be. I felt very happy there! |

Has to be one of the nicest cities I have visited was really impressed with it! It helped that we kind of had a guide in the form of my friend who lived there who was able to make great recommendations. We did all the usual sights, visited Fishermans Wharf(not too impressed with that area...very commercialised!), Chinatown(largest in the world!), Haight-Ashbury the 70's throwback neighbourhood, Castro District and lastly Alcatraz. All were well worth the visit especially Alcatraz, we took the night tour and this really captures the eerie atmosphere of the island it was great and so interesting! We treated ourselves to some nice meals out aswell including Tommy Toys Chinese Restaurant in the Embarcadero and the revolving restaurant at the top of the Hyatt Regency Hotel....stop off for a cocktail if nothing else! Loved SF for the shopping in comparison to NY where we had just visited this was so compact and everything was very easy to find just head towards Union Sq! Will definitely be stopping off again! The weather was even great when we were there which was a bonus we were told! |

it was a wonderful experiences. Although I stay at this place again the 2nd time, it wasn\'t as fun as the first time. The staff there in March really leave me in distaste for not returned there for future stay. |

I love San Francisco! I try to go whenever possible and especially enjoy Chinatown, North Beach, and Fisherman's Wharf. While the restaurants in North Beach are some of the best around, I find The Wharf to be an incredibly fun and exciting place to hang out. There are so many cute shops to visit, good restaurants to experience, great views to see, and plenty of museums to check out. You can see the entire Golden Gate Bridge and the best views of Alcatraz can be viewed from the wharf. You can also check out the famous barking sea lions as they sun themselves at Pier 39.There are definitely parts of Fisherman's Wharf that are a bit touristy, but if you are on vacation, that should probably be expected. I'd recommend walking up towards the Hyde Street Pier where some very cool old ships are docked and then stop by the Ghiradelli Chocolate Company, one of the best chocolate stores in the country. Plus, there are lots of cute souvenir shops, cozy cafes, and small eateries around that area. From there you could walk up through North Beach, past Chinatown (try Yuet Lee for dinner!) and right to Union Square where you could see a show or just hang out and enjoy the people watching. |

San Francisco, the city that bore the hippy movement, and you can imagine the hip and happening Sixties in this great, great city. LA has it celebrities, nightlife, and gang culture, and San Fran has its own notorieties- it's laid back and welcoming, and is said to be the most welcoming city to gay people. In San Fran you feel that you can do what you want to do and at your own pace. It is also a fab city for couples, with plenty of opportunities for romance. Top locations: Union Square, Golden Gate Park, Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, The Mission. The only thing that may disappoint is the city's climate- similar to British weather, yet with less rain, during my visit at the end of July temperatures reached a mild 15 degrees celsius and cloudy but when the sun came out it was lovely! |
