However, I suggest that knowing somebody in Russia or traveling with somebody that speaks Russian helps a lot. English isn't much spoken. In any case you need a dictionary. Transportation is pretty good, you just have to get used to it. The people are not very friendly, or so it seems. It appears that they are always in a bad mood or they appear to be too stoic. Nevertheless, there are really nice people that "sometimes" help. I believe I need to visit again to see other aspects of Russia and their people.close

Things like posting a parcel are impossible and take many hours and The formalities of getting an invitation, then a visa, then getting the visa registered, really add stress to the trip. Having said that, it is good fun and worth a trip but you'll probably want it to be a once in a lifetime thing so get it all done first time out.close

My boyfriend and I decided to visit Moscow this year. We are kind of people that would rather save some money on accomodation and plane tickets and spend them on something to be remembered, but we're a little bit old to stay in one room with six backpackers. So we got a private room 2-3 times...

4It's a real guest house. You have a bedroom in a private house. Funny if you like to know other people... Cheap enough for Moscow fares. A possible problem is the presence of only one bathroom for all the rooms... Very good for groups.

Lenin's Mausoleum100%
What?
MausoleumWhere?
Located in Red Square beside the KremlinAnything Else?
This mausoleum is where the body embalmed of Vladimir Lenin was laid to rest in 1924 and his body is still on display to this day. There are long queues generally so it is a good idea to get there as early as possible.
Incredible, really incredible. If you have time, and if you don't think this is extremely grotesque and in bad taste, then you really cannot miss visiting the tomb. A very intimidating and eerie experience.

The queues are long and awkward but it is well, well worth making the extra effort to get access to these rooms - the collections are incredible! I have seen a number of other state diamond collections but nothing compares to this opulence!
