Our sleep-in is a basic accommodation which is clean and safe. It's situated in the center of Rotterdam only 200 meters from Central Station. It's only open in July and August and during the International Filmfestival in January. 'Mafkees' (sorry it's not possible to translate, but it's a sort of crazy sleeping beauty) is the sleep-in of Use-it Rotterdam. In the Mafkees you can relax at the bar and have a drink. We serve meals for only € 5,90. We got vegetarian food and use free range meat in the other meals. It's a great place to meet other travellers and exchange experiences. We have our beds in 2 big dorms. One for women only (24 beds) and the other mixed dorm (126 beds). Last but not least we have our honeymoon suite. A private room for 2 persons which you can't book up front but if it's free, you can claim it, when you check in. There are a few rules however: 1. You have to be very much in love. 2. You have to kiss in public 3. You are only allowed to spend one night in our suite, the morning after you will have to move back to the dorm. The good news is you still pay only 10 Euro a night. You must have your own sleepingbag !!! (Sheets are available for rent on a limited bases) Who are we? Mafkees is run by Use-it. Use-it is the information - and service center for backpackers in Rotterdam. Use-it is a nonprofit organization funded by the local government. You'll find Use-it in the same building as De Mafkees. Mafkees is closed between 11.30am and 17.15pm. If you arrive between this time you can check in at Use-it and leave your backpack at one of their free lockers.

120 bed dorm was a bit of a shock, bit hard to sleep at night, the breakfast was a bit pov, but hey you get what you pay for!

Excellent value for money, get what you pay for. While the prospect of sharing a room with so many seemed daunting it gave the place a character and consequently security too. Would definitely stay again, by far the cheapest place found on my travels!

The place is too busy and the lockers didn't look safe. I regreted I didn't spend the night on the train station - would be quiter, could leave the lugguage in safe locker, and it's free

The place is very cool. It could be crippy but is just for the style, anyway is very safe and clean. Make sure you bring your blankets and pillow because otherwise they are 1 euro there. I completely recommend this place!

The staff were great! No soap in the bathrooms, and shared showers. I bought an eye cover for sleeping and all was good!

Well. they got mabe 50 beds in one big hall but not all had been occupied. Nevertheless it was not really comfortable to sleep with so many other people. Im sure, there are better hostels in Rotterdam but this was ok too. Good connection, good neighborhood, friendly personal.

Closer between 1130 and 5 during the day. Beds were allocated to each person but people slet in whatever beds. Stuff was stolen from under our beds. No locks or any form of real security

Well the staff were all really cool and nice. For a bed and a basic breakfast you cant really find any cheaper. The lockout in the day between 11.30 and 5pm is a bit annoying. The beds are a bit noisy and some partitions would definately help create the illusion of privacy that this hostel lacks.

The staff were super helpful, but it's a quite hostel. The only big drawback was the vicious mosquitos. Ask that staff about things to do, they are very helpful.

This place is 10 Euro a night!!! Thats unbelievable, its nothing special, but for 10 Euro a night who cares, plus you get a place to keep your suitcase (which is locked), and breakfast included, showers aren't as bad as you'd think either - actually every-thing is pretty clean!

This is more a hostel for the seasoned traveller, not those more used to their privacy and luxuries. Had a lot of fun here met a lot of cool people, definitely recommended.

hotelling legends would be astounded by the maximal occupancy of guests within four walls. they would harp to cash in on this idea.

You get what you pay for. Literally RIGHT next to the train station. The matresses are little more than waterproof pads. Mosquitos are plentiful. Bring bug spray and enjoy same sex showers.

ok... so its 10 euro a night so its hard to complain when its so cheap. 2 min walk from train station, 5 min walk to centre of town. you sleep in a massive room with 120 others.. the showers a the filthiest ive seen but nothing a pair or thongs cant protect you from! pretty good value for money

For 10 euros I can't complain. I met cool ppl there which meant my stay was good but I'd imagine if I hadn't it would have been quite boring. You have to be out of the hostel between 11:30 and 5pm which I thought was too long and there are no security lockers, pillows or sheets supplied, u have...

i braved two nights. it's hard to be negative because it was so cheap .. í'd say stay elsewhere if you have the funds, otherwise it's very bare-bones but manageable. not a social place, and kind of in a sketchy neighborhood.

I was surprised to discover that place was not as bad as I was expecting. There is not privacy in room with 124 beds, but 10 euros for a night is not much either. Breakfast is bread with coffee. Location is nice, pretty much in the center.
