Where?

Beside Circo Massimo Metro Station

What?

Ancient Hippodrome and now a Park

Anything else you need to know?

Sadly the hippodrome is all but gone now as the materials have been used to built other structures across Rome. All that remains now is the grass covered track and the Spina which was the center column of the race track.

It was used for horse races and sometimes also for mock battles and hunts. It’s situated between the Palatine and the Aventine hills and it’s a popular area for concerts. It was featured in famous Hollywood movies on Rome and it was also recently used for the celebrations of the 2006 Football World Cup when 700,000 people gathered there.close
