The ‘dirty old man’ serves Rome’s best pizza bianca ripiena – which, as a sign explains, is ‘White Pizza With Any Thing You Like Inside’. Fillings range from classics like prosciutto and mozzarella to exotic combinations. Pay at the till for a regular (€2.50) or large (€3) piece; then join the receipt-waving hordes to get served. |

Otello is very close to Spanish steps. Altough, It can be hard to find where it is. There are plenty of restaurants on the street but Otello's entrance looks like a tunnel looking at a courtyard. So you can recognize their menu and sign only.
They have various foods like meat, pasta, traditional Italian foods etc. All of them smell great. There are seats inside and outside. It would be better to seat outside in summer. Cause it's really cool and shady tables outside. Try the pasta otello not ont he menu but one of their specialities also ask for the wine list as the wine listed on the menu is limited and they do have an extensive wine list |

I really liek this place apparently it is famous for being a place where the stars used to hang out but to be honest I just like the buzz have been going there since my first visit to Rome in 2003 and its great - you can stop for a drink or something to eat and you will enjoy it |

We stopped here for coffee early Sunday morning but to be honest did not think much of it it was very expensive for what we got and the waiter was not overly happy in his work a smile sometimes wouldnt break the bank - and I like surley romans but there is a limit - so would go to Rosati accross the way if I had a choice - maybe its better in the evening for food. |

My girlfriend had been bugging me to go to Italy for our next holiday for a long time. I want to tastr REAL italian food she told me over and over. After our first 2 nights in Rome she was losing hope. Then we stumbled upon Al Picchio. Once we stepped inside we knew this was different. menu's not translated, great waiters, very experienced. A sort of a rustic charm to the place. our waiter was very helpful and made lots of suggestions. Sineasd got her own thing and I went along with what the waiter suggested, I fared better... To this day, I dont know what it was but it was beautiful. We had a lovely time here and would not think twice about coming again. |

Le Sorelle on the Via Belsiana just off the Via Condotti is an excellent restaurant in the heart of Rome. Family-run, the restaurant offers very inventive but delicious food. Light lunch-time meals are good value, but the evening dinner can be on the pricey side. Who cares, you're in Rome, surrounded by smiling happy people eating excellent food (try the agnello alla scottadito for example)! A special mention for one of the staff, Cristina, who is a real character and a delightful person. Even if you don't speak Italian you just know she's great fun! |

This restaurant opened only a few years ago and quickly established itself with the Romans because of the quality of the food at really value-for-money prices. The staff are friendly and attentive, the food is excellent and inventive and the wines are very good value for money. It's a bit out of the way, being up beyond Trastevere next to the Gianicolo hill, but it's only a taxi ride away and the walk back down the hill through Trastevere is very pleasant. |

This Michelin-starred restaurant is a little hard to find, located as it is in a very unassuming side street just north of the Piazza Navona. But the food is magnificent and the service impeccable. It comes at a relatively high price, however, so it is something you should keep for a special occasion. Highly recommended. |

This Michelin-starred restaurant just beside the Pantheon specialises in fish. It is 'the' fish restaurant of Rome - and it shows. The food is delicious and inventive, served by efficient, professional staff. One of the interesting starters is a hot and cold selection of little dishes of fish that has not been cooked exactly but marinated in various ways. Absolutely delicious, but very expensive! Again, a splash-out venue for that special occasion. A lot noisier than the more staid and formal Il Convivio (reviewed here as well). |

This restaurant is in a wonderful old mediaeval building called the Torre dei Pierleoni on the only island in Rome (Isola Tiburtina), right next to one of Rome's main hospitals and the pretty church of San Bartolomeo. Its particular claim to fame is it was started and run for many years by the "Sister Elena" (Sora Lella) it is now called after – she was the youngest sister of one of Italy's most famous actors of the 20th century. There are two small dining rooms, one on the ground floor as you enter, one up a steep and rather rickety staircase. There is a view near some windows of the Tiber flowing below the bridge outside. The food is pretty straightforward Roman cooking but very tasty. Very good pasta and pleasant service. The place has had its ups-and-downs but its perfectly acceptable. |

Do not be put off or fooled by the rather swish website. When you go to Alfredo's it looks pretty much like your standard Roman restaurant, one step up from a humbler trattoria, except for the pictures on the wall of filmstars and royalty. Everyone famous from the last century has been through its doors more or less, and has had their picture taken to prove it.
It is one of two places in Rome that claims to have invented "fettuccine Alfredo" a wonderful conconction of simple fettuccine, butter and pecorino romano cheese. At this particular venue, if a whole family have it as their starter, the waiters make a big deal of the dish – they wheel it to the table unmixed, the fettucine smothered in a heap of melting butter and a mound of cheese and they make a song and dance of mixing it for you, then serve it out individually picking on one "special" person to have the very first portion. It might sound terribly theatrical and I suppose it is, but the theatrics aside (which might appeal to the kids) the food is actually very good here. This restaurant is right in the city center not far from Piazza Navona in a lovely part of town. |

Might be a nice place to try for lunch. A very small – and it has to be said unpromising-looking entrance leads through a number of rooms out to a very pretty courtyard for al fresco dining when the weather is nice. The antipasti and fish were light and very tasty. Set in a very unassuming side street in a part of town that seems to be a place to pass through rather than go to, so it might not feature on your day trips. |

Granted, it's a while since I've eaten here, but when I did it was good. I remember it has these underground caverns and the risotto was excellent. Strange considering it's in such a touristy location. |

Lovely restaurant near the Trevi Fountain. Has indoor seats and outdoor seating area with canopy and gas heaters. We had a lovely pasta to share to start. Steak cooked to perfection! |

Lovely Italian Trattoria close to the Spanish steps that came recommended to us. Had lovely seafood starter and great lamb and pasta for main course. Very reasonably priced. |

This restaurant is situated in Trastevere. It has an indoor seating area and outdoor seating area, covered by canopies. We had a lovely lunch there – pizza, pasta, half carafe or wine, 2 coffees for €20. |

Doney is a restaurant attached to the Westin Hotel. It is a modern and stylish. We had a lovely meal – the starter was delicious – an Italian cheese and meats selection. We didn’t order dessert but they brought a selection of handmade chocolates with our coffee. One of the more expensive restaurants in Rome, but not too dear. |

Trendy new restaurant. Nice décor, open brick work, candle lighting. The starter was delicious but mains were only o.k.
Restaurant was less busy later in the evening and the service was not as attentive. |

Simply the best restaurant in all of Rome. Service, food quality. Bag Tullio -- over priced, over haughty, so-so Tuscan quality and go for Le Fric a mere half block. Don't miss the stozaapreti with bacon, tomatoes and cheese and definitely savor the vaioli di funghi porchip con tortufa e pistaccio. To literally die for, at 60% of Tullio's prices! |

We highly recommend Naná Vini e Cucina, this is by far the best restaurant we visited in Italy, we give it an excellent rating. We had dinner there two nights in a row. The food is Napolitana, the service is one of the best we’ve experienced in any country, the food is excellent, that kitchen is visible from the dining area through large glass window, the setting is in a romantic alley near the Fontana Trevi. Reservations are not required but recommended if you don’t like waiting while sipping the complimentary sparkling wine. |

When in Rome you can't miss this experience..... Located in Trastevere, the most wellknown area in Rome about food, walk around and look for the tiny vico delle Cisterne. There you'll find the restaurant La Cisterna, where you'll feel like being back of 400 years..... The restaurant has a basement that originally was the restaurant itself, as Rome was 12 feet lower than now. And in there,,,, the well that Walt Disney used as inspiration for the movie Fantasia! Don't forget to eat the abbacchio with potatoes, the very best in Italy! |

Al Boschetto is situated in the centre of Rome near Piazza Navona and the Via Nazionale shopping street.
You can eat the famous "funghi porcini", fresh fish and home made desserts.
It's a warm welcoming place with an inside garden.
I say just try! |

"Hostaria Isidoro al Colosseo" is one of Rome's best known restaurant. It's situated near the Colosseum and they have a great choise of first courses, grilled meat and delicious home made desserts. A nice warm place and friendly people. Definitely to try! |
