Located in a quiet, green neighborhood next to the Colosseum, this place is cozy and central. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. Rooms are small but nice (all you need in a city like Rome), equipped with A/C, TV and computer with internet connection. A good choice.

Catching the bus was very easy with many bus stops scattered within 5-10 minutes walk from Arena House. Barbara and Vincent (the hosts) are looovely! Always on hand to answer any questions you may have. Breakfast was standard - you're given breakfast vouchers that you simply take with you to a cafe down the road - get a coffee and youir choice of one pastry. Italians generally don't have big breakfasts! Double room a bit small but it was cosy. And really clean! Shower was a little small too but it was fine. Complimentary juice and coffee/tea were on hand which was good. Arena House is highly recommended! Good value!close

We arrived after 8 pm and Vincent met us at the door full of information and maps of Rome. He even drew the bus routes on the map. There was coffee and tea ready which was also nice coming in out of the cold. However, it was FREEZING in our room. We found out the next day that there was a heater, but we had no idea how to operate it. Our fault but bring warm PJs. The "included" breakfast is actually a coupon for the two cafes around the corner for a pastry and coffee at either. The one on the left side of the street (when coming from the hotel) was MUCH better than the one on the right (burnt pastry/cold coffee). The location of the hotel is nice because there is a metro nearby and the colosseum is right outside the front door. The computer in the room was VERY convenient for looking up opening times, email, etc. All in all, a nice place to stay with wonderful staff.close

The only negative I could think of is that it is a bit far from the main train station, but you can catch their metro to the Colloseum and then its only about 5-10 mins walk. Also, there is a fantastic restaurant called Tavern 40 ask the reception staff where it is on the map. But as you leave the arena house, turn left and walk all the way down the street. Then turn left and it is about 100metres away. They do the really good bruschetta and it was authentic italian food.close
