The location is quite okay. The weather was so-so but the beach is long and the hotel near.

This is a great hotel in Ipanema. It is right across the road from Ipanema beach which is fab. You can collect beach towels in the hotel and they have a beach attendant who will bring you over chairs and umbrellas. You can collect beach towels in the hotel and they have a beach attendant who will bring you over chairs and umbrellas. I would definitely recommend staying in Ipanema rather than Copacabana and I would also recommend this hotel. The staff were really helpful and were happy to recommend restaurants, shopping areas etc. The rooms were lovely and bright with great views of Ipanema. We booked tickets to see a football match through the hotel but in general I would recommend booking your tours through the hostel around the corner if you want to meet some younger people. There is a pool and terrace on the top floor which is nice but very small!! There are 4 sun loungers and a couple of tables so unless you are willing to fight for a bed I would hit the beach! Hotels are more expensive in Rio than in other parts of South America- I think our rate was about $200 a night but I would definitely recommend Praia Ipanema for a nice place to stay on one of the world's best beaches.close
