It wasn´t a real party place but was great for a relax in between nights out in town. Great staff, very friendly and helpful. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to play music as they have just about every musical instrument here you could think of and they love it when people play them.close

The only good things are the location, the cleanliness and if you are lucky you may strike a nice staff member. We changed to another hostel.close

I stayed over Carnival, when like evrywhere else prices are 4x normal, & service probably lessthan normal. I think if not crammed full then it'd be a cool place. Only use big dorms if your part of a group. the common areas upstairs are a "secret" getaway.

The rooms were a bit cramped, hard to find room for luggage, also not much happening in botafogo, although easy to get buses/taxis to centre/beaches

The staff was very help and made you feel at home. The coffee and the fresh fruit was the best in the morning. The atmosphere at the hostel was great and give you added feel of the energy in Rio

more storage in the large girls dorm would be a big help. Even some more hooks or tables would help.

You have to catch a bus to most good beaches anyway and this location is close to Botofogo subway station and many buses. Although they have lockers, they are not big enough for backpacks, so you need to separate your valuable stuff if you want to store it. The hostel staff are very friendly and helpful, although write everything down and make sure you understand to try and not get lost (like we did) in Rio James, Australiaclose

Our stay at the Vila Carioca hostel was brilliant. The staff were really fantastic, full of good advice and great fun to talk to. They helped make our new year an unforgettable experience, and fed us well on ace brekkies.

Security would have recieved full marks if it wasn´t for the fact that fellow guests are allowed to buzz people in and go behind the reception desk as if they work there.

As this is a new hostel it was fairly quiet but the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home, give us directions and even go out for drinks with you!! It has all the makings of a great hostel.
