the breakfast and evening daily dinner are great! Probably one of the coziest and best-accommodating hostels I have ever been in. Not a jail, and very safe.

We have our thoughts about the account system, controlled by the staff. Other than that it is a fun place to be and located close to several bus and metro stations.

I would like to start by saying that this is the best hostel i have stayed at in the world and it all comes down to two factors. The owner and the staff that work there. This is a hostel that goes way beyond your expectations to make your stay in Rio the most fullfilled it could possibily be. One staff member even went out of his way on his day off to organise a mini bus to take some of the people staying there to a remote beach that would not be assesable for the average tourist and then backed it up that night by taking us all nightclubing till the early hours of the morning! We only booked this hostel becuase we arrived a week early into Rio and couldn't check into our hotel for another week, although when we did check into our hotel we found ourselves up at the hostel every night because we missed it! Eliseu, Tábata and Nina you guys are an assest to this hostel and i thankyou for making my stay in Rio a great one. See you next year!close

Room not cleaned for 7 days during stay. Pretty grim when you consider the South America policy of putting paper in the bin, not down the loo!

Very good location, close to metro and buses. It feels safe to walk even at night. Very friendly staff. Some of them are monolingual but have good paralinguistic skills and communication is not a problem. There is a bar in the premises where often guests play guitar and sing. I strongly reccommend this place.close

Lovely hostel, although the dorm room was claustrophobically small. The price-value ratio is non existant, but then maybe Rio is just an expensive city. 44 people in a small space makes cleanliness difficult.
