The owner Sylvia is awesome, honest, friendly and helpful..recommended where to go, what to see etc and seemed like she actually cared about ur safety.. place is really clean with great brekky and unlimited coffee and tea, would definitely stay again!

I found this to be a wonderful. The staff could not have been more friendly to us. Everyone in this little hostle seemed to bond immediatly and therefor it was a great week. Sylvia and her staff gave us great tips of where to find the best night life and recommended all the good tours. All in all... more I found this to be a wonderful. Very nice staff, ready to help with anything you plan to do...trips, transportation or nightlife. Safe area, easy to meet other travellers. I really enjoyed my stay, thank you!

Small (1 dorm, 1 double room) hostel in an enclosed Mew with 4 other hostels. Nice frendly front staff who provided a good city orientation. Clean rooms and bathroom. Not that easy to sit in and chill if the weather is bad, but on sunny days all is good : )

The man who usually stays there at night speaks no english. So if you call or are trying to figure out something make sure to ask one of the younger workers earlier in the day!

This is a very cozy hostel. With only one dorm room you really get to know the others in your room! After experiencing the multi-dorm room hostels, this was a nice change. The staff were wonderful and I always felt safe. I absolutely recommend this hostel :)

This is a brlliant reasonable place to hav fun in the expensive Ipanema (the best place to be), the hostel itself is a good one, not the best, but u hav to see the whole thing and then u know its probably one of the Best One. I send many greetings to the fantastic staff and say; U will see me...

Staff were extremely friendly and really helpful. Brilliant location and never once felt unsafe despite all the negative talk about Rio!!Met a great bunch of backpackers there as well!!

All the reviews are accurate.. this is a good place to stay. Don' t run out of cash (as I did) because they don't take credit cards!

I enjoyed my stay at Lighthouse. It's a small hostel -- one 8-bed room and one private room. As a girl traveling alone, I felt safe here, and I met some nice people as well. It's not a party hostel, but it's clean and cozy.

The best hostel I stayed in during 7.5 months travelling. Great staff, great beds, and so close to the beach. Looking forward to going back soon.

i stayed in copa... before here. this palce has a small ally that has 7 or 8 diffrent hostels. most hostels are small.i really had good sleep in this place same time you can meet a lot of other trvelers from othe hostels.highly recommed.

I was not used to go to hostels up to now, but for me it was a great experience to start in this hostel. And I also liked the fact, that it is in a little hostel road. Go there und you´ll love it. Carmen

Great little hostel. Very small and chilled out. Would definitely recommend it. Nice to get a good breakfast including fruit. Staff full of information and very friendly.

I only stayed one night in the hostel (which means it is hard to get a feel for the place) although I thought that the hostel is overpriced for what they offer. The dorm rooms are of a good size and the breakfast standard. This hostel was brilliant and felt like having to leave a family when we left! Sabrina, Tatiana and Pedro were so much fun and helpful and made the stay in Rio excellent. So easy to meet people and in a very secure street. Would definatley recommend!

Great little youth hostel, staff helped set us up with tours and any info we needed. Breakfast included. I had even forgotten my ipod there when I was leaving, but the staff kept it safe for me until I went back to get it. Highly recommended place!

Not as good as people think. Very distant when you arrive, Feel like you are in the way. Changed hostel after 2 days and Rio as a city became so much better. Cant believe the high rating on hostel world. much nicer hostels in the city!!1

The Lighthouse is located a few blocks from Ipanema Beach in a private street with lots of small hostels. It is very secure and there is 24 security. The staff are amazing - really friendly and helpful. This is like a home from home.

Nice hostel in the village - only one room available, 8 beds but never any problems as there are 2 showers and great people working there. Lovely little dog ;)

This is a fantastic hostel and a great place to base yourself while enjoying the sights of the city. It's clean, comfortable and very friendly but you really do need to book ahead. Rocking up on the night you wish to stay and expecting a vacancy will more than likely see you leaving...
