Hostel was just OK, stayed in double room and there was quite a smell in it, shower waas cold too. In a great location right beside Ipanema beach, the staff were very helpful also

We only stayed for one night but the bar was nice but expensive and the room was extremely warm. People were nice, could have been a party hostel if their was more people.

The hostel is in a good position if you want to be in Ipanema but it doesnt have much else going for it. The hostel as a whole isnt particularly friendly and the only communal area is the bar. It really could have done with another space where you could just chill out. Very average for the price.

It hsn´t a kitchen, so, everything you want to eat or drink, you have to buy it. And they don´t sell food. It turns expensive the trip. but it´s a great place to know people and have fun. Excellent location.

The sheets are thread-bare and were not changed for six nights. The matresses are awful with plastic coating that mean you stick to them through the thin sheets, the pillows were worse. Our 12 bed dorm looked like a favela most of the time. Cleaning was sporadic and the size of the dorm was tiny for the 12 people jammed in there. There was only one bathroom between all twelve of us. The lockers are not in any way secure and can be accessed by lifting up the matresses on the beds (people had things stolen whilst we were there). The air-con, whilst very welcome, turned off at about 9am - very annoying when, as expected during carnival period, people are sleeping late. There was never any water or towels available. I also felt that we were being ripped-off with the tours that were run by the hostel, much, much cheaper to do things yourself or even book through an outside agency directly. There are no kitchen facilities (although you can buy mediocre standard food) or living areas to chill-out in. There were a few positives: The bar is ok and can be pretty sociable. The staff were usually friendly and helped us in finding out about where the best parties were (they could have displayed all this info much better in an easily viewable place). They managed to get us costumes to take part in the sambadrome parade at short notice. The lcoation is pretty good, next to the beach, although it is at one end of Ipanema.close

Ipanema is the best place to stay. The hostel was very quiet which is what we wanted but there wasn't a lot happening at night despite there being a bar etc. It was also expensive but average for Rio.

A good hostel, nice staff and nice area. They only accept credit cards for the bar and not for payment for the rooms, or thats what the signs said at least so a bit confusing. But seriously nice place and Rio is great.

Cool hostel with a great location. The staff can be alternatley helpful and surly, depending on who is hleping you. Be prepared to wait a while to check in--not the most efficient of operations.
