This was a very friendly little place. The location was very good too. Staff were very nice and extremely friendly. It was a great place to start our travels around south america.

During our stay we had a lot of help from everybody and this hostel has a lovely charm. The breakfast is good. Everything is very accessable from here. I love the staff there!!!! They are so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The location is conviently located between bus stops and metro. Lots of bars and restaurants in surrounding area. Definitely my place to stay in Rio. Beijos pra todo mundo!!!!

A very nice and cheap place in Rio. The staff was very very nice and they helped me in everything. Me gusto mucho el hostal, la gente muy amable y atenta, lo recomiendo mucho. Además el hostal es limpio y hay mucha seguridad. JC (México)

The website is misleading,the bar is more of a fridge with a few beers in and the ´pool` isnt really. staff all seemed new and a bit lost. Not the hostel for those that want social/nightlife but good if you want clean and quiet.

Nice place! Nice staff! The breakfast could be better. The fan in the room we stayed was not working properly. And you know ... Rio is very hot. So it was a problem.

I am a non smoker, and some times the owner was smoking while cooking bbq's and at reception. The smoking at reception went straight up stairs to my room. This was my only comlpaint. Other wise the hostel was excellent.

They totally overcharged me - the other people in my room paid half as much as I did! And they wanted me to pay carnaval prices even after carnaval, so I left since every other hostel in the city had normal prices again and free beds available ... But I have to say that what other people wrote here is not true: they have got hot water, even upstairs! You just have to go downstairs and press a button to get it. And the towel I got was dirty too but I carry my own towel anyway since you don´t get towels in most hostels anyway ... Other than that, the hostel is allright and the staff is friendly and helpful ...close

they care about your money more than you which shows in their attitude towards you. Also they charge for leaving your rucksacks in their space after your last paid night. bit disappointed about that and very inconvenient as our flights back home didn't leave until midnight.

All receptionists are helpful and warm, contributing to a very relaxed and fun atmosphere, there is always good music on and a freezer of drinks... My favorite hostel!

Probably the best hostel I´ve been to. Excelent people, staff and cleaning. I was exceptionally well treaty, everybody was gentil. The rooms, sheets and pillows were extremelly clean. I had the most fun!!

The triple stacked bunks in the 6 man dorm weren´t great and the fans in the room could´ve been better, other than that, a nice enough hostel that does what it says on the tin.

Me and my friends were all very disappointed with Botafogo. We read reviews before booking saying how good it was so i'm not sure if it's recently changed management but it was so bad, we moved out after 2 days (booked 4 nights). We read reviews before booking saying how good it was so i'm not sure if it's recently changed management but it was so bad, we moved out after 2 days (booked 4 nights). There was no hot water for both mornings. I complained on the first day and they said they would fix it but the water was still cold the following day. There was literally a lamp stuck to the wall in the dorm room meaning that we could hardly see anything. This was especially annoying when looking for items in our suitcases. We couldn't close our window as a tree branch was growing in through it, we were given dirty towels and bedding and the towels had massive holes in them. We were told we couldn't lock the door to the dorm room, meaning that we had to leave our suitcases and bags on display to the entire hostel. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone. The area was ok but quite boring. We moved to Copacabana after 2 nights and this area was much better - right by the beach and lots of places to go.close

Big up to Botafogo East hostel, the best hostel in Rio!!! We stayed in two other places and none had the charm that Easy holds... definately stay here again. Thanks for the rating and the help finding the place.

Very well located you get everywhere by using public transport. I recomend the taxi when it gets dark. No private lockers just safes but they keep your belongings in their private lockers...you'll see and you'll undestand. I'll recomend to stay there.

My stay in Botafogo Easy Hostel was great! The staff were so friendly and even came out with us at night. The rooms were very comfortable. It was peaceful during the day and very social at night. One of the best hostels ive stayed in!!!

We cannot understand how this hostel got such a high rating as it is nothing special. The main problem is the location - we urge anyone going to Rio not to stay in the Botofogo area as there is absolutely nothing there. Hard to find a restaurant and impossible to find a pub. The main problem is the location - we urge anyone going to Rio not to stay in the Botofogo area as there is absolutely nothing there. Hard to find a restaurant and impossible to find a pub. You will have to a bus or taxi to anywhere of interest or in search of any kind of life. As for the hostel itself the private rooms were manky enough and there were a couple of incidents of guests having items go missing while we were there but that was most likely stupidity on their part. There was a gun fired right outside the hostel one night which ended a massive row between some locals so didn´t feel the general area was too safe either. Staff were friendly enough but there was no craic to be had at the hostel. Hostelworld ratings definitely led us astray with this place. Stay in Ipanema.close
