Had a really great time at the hostel, big ups to Brian for really making the effort to make the place great. Good daily events, overall nice people staying and working there. I ended up staying twice as long as planned. Rooms can be a little messy if your a clean freak, I'm not though :)

Great party hostel located within walking distance to Ipanema beach. Its one of the best value hostels in the location and Ipanema beach seems a lot safer than Copacabana. Though there are staff that clean, the rooms are a little run down. Mattresses and pillows have a stench. Only 2 showers for men, with only 1 that has hot water. Only 2 toilets for men, with the latch on 1 stall broken. Owner "Freddie" seems quite friendly and is willing to help.

Was awoken at 3am with a waterfall of toilet water rushing onto our bunk as one of the drunks had pulled off a pipe in the upstairs bathroom. Management say they encourage drinking and then said that it wasnt their fault. They kept our money for the night and offered no compensation what so ever. Toilets didnt flush, couldnt see your reflection in the mirrors, noisy and incompetant management. Do your self a favour and don´t go any where near this hostel.close

The staff are great and very helpful - they will actually walk you to the bank if you really want. Thank´s to Newton, Andreas, Santiago and ´the pineapple man!´. It is one of the cheapest hostels youwillfind in Rio and for that reason price reflects cleanliness. Still, a great place to stay and try the caipirinha´s!close

Hostel was overbooked when I arrived. Had to change dorm 4 times in one day. Locker was broken into. Toilets were blocked. Staff were nice however and were willing to compensate for all the trouble caused. Probably the most disorganised hostel I ever stayed in.

After waiting three hours to try and check in we were offered an appartment at the same price, 45Reais. it was now 11pm and we had no other alternative... lots of other people were in the same situation and 9 people were crammed into a 6 man appartement, we slept on the floor, no breakfast etc. To me it seemed like a money making racket to overfill empty appartments and profit handsomely from doing so. So I didnt actually stay at the hostel but my ratings are based on spending time there trying to resolve the situation and looking round. Also their claims of a swimming pool and 7 computers werent trueclose

The Hostel itself is quite simple and small, However the staff here are excellent. They speak really good English, help with any problems (including Visa's), are full of information, can book any of the tours and even offer help to guest after they leave.
