Description of Reykjavik Backpackers
ReykjavÃk Backpackers is the newest and only independently operated hostel in Iceland's capital city. As european capitals go, ReykjavÃk ranks amongst the smallest. Our location on the main street in the center of town means that all of the shopping, bar-hopping, swimming, duck feeding, CD sampling, whale watching, museum browsing, seaside strolling, hot dog devouring, and coffee drinking... are just outside our door. Even the main bus terminal is withing walking distance (15min). More often than not the best advise we can give to our guests is to get out of town. We mean no disrespect to the city of course, it's just that no trip to Iceland would be complete without going out into Nature at least once. Whether you rent a car, book a coach or super jeep tour, or set out with thumb extended, our staff of dedicated receptionists will help you get on your way. Our reception desk is staffed with travellers like yourself, and are dedicated to offering the best advice available. We are licensed by the Icelandic Tourist Board and can arrange any excursion you wish. The guides of Arctic Adventures are good friends of ours. As part of Iceland's longest running adventure company, they are also very good at what they do. Every week we plan a few hostel excursions with them, and our summertime Thunder Thursdays are all the justification you need for bonding with the rest of the hostel over white water and BBQ. The hostel itself spans 3 floors (soon to be four floors when we open up the ground floor reception/bar). Rooms are divided into 4,6, or 8 bedded dormitories as well as private double rooms. There is a common room with a TV and WiFi on every floor, and a kitchen as well. All showers and bathrooms are shared, but there are plenty of them. We provide our guests with 24-hour check-in and free internet access. We are proud to be the only hostel in Reykjavik catering exclusively to individual backpackers and their friends during the summer months. We strive to preserve a backpacker feel to the place, and all group bookings are limited by size and season. Here are some extra things worth mentioning: * After hours access is through a key-coded gate. * All beds have a clean sheet and pillow case, and a big fluffy duvet to keep you warm is available to rent. So are towels. * Availability changes frequently, if you don't see what you want please ask. * Up to date tours and events are visible on our website. * In the summer it is very bright here. Always. Bring an eye mask if you are sensitive to such things. Earplugs wouldn't hurt either. * Bring your bathing suit. * Bring your camera. With our unbeatable location and prices in a fun and lively hostel we make it our priority to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We happily join you in your adventures. See you in Iceland!

The location is great and having the Flybus drop you in front of the hostel is a plus. However, the place gets pretty loud so I recommend earplugs. I would definitely stay here... ”
