Prague guide

previous1 of 51next

It's a tired cliché when it comes to many cities around the world, but Prague really is an enchanting mix of the old and the new. The Nové Mesto (New Town) symbolises the new independent Czech Republic, while the Staré Mesto (Old Town) is one of the best preserved old towns in Europe as it remained untouched in both World Wars. While these are both on the eastern side of the River Vltava, to the west is Malá Strana (Lesser Town) where Prague's medieval castle dominates the skyline. Along with all the sightseeing to do, Prague has more than its fair share of affordable restaurants, while search hard enough and you'll find some of the cheapest (and tastiest) beer in Europe.

There are souvenir shops on every corner and tourists by the thousands. Not quite what I was expecting. I\'ve traveled many eastern European countries and heard wonderful comments about Prague along the way, but this was a big disappointment. Sites are great, but consider going earlier or later in the year if you don\'t want to be annoyed by tourists or considered a nuisance by nationals.close

I'd recommend the old reliable 4 seasons or the radisson. Designer shops on every corner !!!!!! got beautiful Dior shoes : ) If you go on one sightseeing tour make sure it is the cathedral of bones. Its a small city so you can walk it all, loads of side alley ways that all have shops and lovely bars, cafes. Amazing holiday defo going back.close

Top Rated Prague Restaurants

  1. Restaurant Titanic100%

    • What?

        Steakhouse
    • Where?

The portion size is ... 'Titanic', hence the name. Great if you like large portions of such as Venison Steak and roast potatoes with a choice of sauces and simply titanic deserts like the crepe selection. Prices are very reasonable indeed, service friendly (even in fluent English) and swift and even though they always seem busy, I never had to queue for more...

    • What?

        Internet Cafe and Bakery
    • Where?

Near Národní trida Metro and Tram stop
    • Anything Else?

There is a wide range american and czech bakery products available, as well as different coffees and teas. There are 5 computers available in the internet room or you can use the Wi-Fi Network through out the premises.

This place has to be the best place to go for breakfast in Prague. They do bagels and other stuff, but the best thing about it is the size of the mugs the coffee/tea comes in - you could swim in them! In my opinion, the best place to start the day in Prague.

I couldn't believe how good the food was here when it arrived. I was famished so, even though this place restaurant is only seconds away from Charles Bridge, expected it to be rubbish. But it was quality! I'd a good hearty pork knuckle. Gets two thumbs up from me.

Established in 2001, Orange Moon was opened to cater to those who were yearning for such spicy exotic specialities – Thai, Burmese, Malaysian, Indonesian and Indian. Alot of the ingredients are imported and there is Thai Singha Beer,

For decent Thai, Indian or Burmese food in Prague, this is where to go. Staff are efficient and, even though it's pretty close to the Old Town Square, prices are reasonable. Can't wait to go back there.

Open since 1912, this small and intimate restaurant is located in the cellars of the Adria Hotel, in a room designed to have the appearance of a stalactite cave. There is a wide selection of wine available and a team of sommeliers to help you choose.

I wanted to treat my girlfriend to a fancy meal and had Triton recommended to me. Set in the cellers of the Adria Hotel right on Wenceslas Square the restaurant is decorated to look like a stalactite filled cave.         Famous Clock
    • Where?

Located in the Old Town Square

This famous medieval clock dates back to 1410 and the astronomical dial on the clock is a form of mechanical astrolabe. There are statues on the clock that move on the hour and it also tells the time of month.

The Walk of the Apostles isn't really that great. Trying to undestand the astronomical clock is way nicer. Going up on the tower is also very interesting, because from there you get a great view from the city.

        Wine Bar

Getting away from Pragues beer culture, the bar serves wine in a multicellar enviroment. It is also one of the first bars to serve burcák, which is wine that is opened and served shortly after it has been harvested.

I've been to many bars in different European cities but this has to be the coolest place ever! When you first walk in it seems like a really small bar, but then you walk down the stairs and you realise it's huge! Place is like the batcave! Is cheap too. Will be going there next time I go to Prague for definite.

Best nightclub I've ever been in and the biggest in middle Europe. The club consists of 5 floors with different music on each floor. The club is cheap and very safe with security on the door and police within.
